Perhaps CJAQ-FM is becoming completely automated?

That would be a guess...with Scott Turner in the morning...and no afternoon drive?...(STRICTLY a guess)
Remember, Scott, as far as I know, is still employed...?

If jack changes formats...what would they play? There are 2 other stations like jack in the area...jack from buffalo and spirit fm.

Maybe jack will stay the and follow the jack's in the U.S

My guess: Country...because KX96 is applying to the CRTC to boost their Country Signal to reach Toronto better in the downtown core.
The change will defeat KX96's purpose for the application...remember...this is only my opinion, with no fact intended...expecially when...what's the demand for country in Toronto again?...can it gather more than a 2.7 share?...I have no comment at this time.

Also, KX may feel the need to serve Toronto, but they'd still have mostly Oshawa/Ajax advertisers...right?
______________

YES...but only in Canada, aparantly.
The Vancouver station stole a morning show from down the dial.

Here's a link to a Jack that still has a morning show, and it's LOCAL!

(Jack Vancouver): www.Larryandwilly.com but dial up will not let you in aparantly...you need high speed to visit the site.

Re: Jockless!

Does JACK in Calgary still have the Cadillac Escalades left over from the station's time as a hip hop outlet? They were repainted as Cadillac Jacks and sent out to remotes and appearances as I remember.

Maybe Toronto's "Jack" is trying to be like the "Jack"-type formats here in the 'States.

Nearly all "Jack"-type stations in the United States run without live announcers.

I feel the main reason they do so is an ecomonic one. By cutting out the airstaff, you cut most of the station's expenses. Even if revenues decline a little bit, your overhead is so much lower that you will make a bigger profit.

Here in the 'States, radio stations can get away without any news, weather reports, traffic updates, etc. Does anyone know if the CRTC regulations allow of prevent Canadian radio stations from likewise going without news, weather or traffic, resulting in total automation with no air staff??

I'm not sure what the station vehicles look like now. There was one at an event near my house and I didn't get a good enough look. It didn't look like an Escalade. Looked more like a small-SUV(think GMC Jimmy, Jeep Grand Cherokee)...
______________

So how do the Canadian ratings work? In the U.S., unless the ratings are embargoed, they're on the Radio & Records website.

Just wondering,

Jet

BTW, 740 has got a killer signal
