yeah, WBD has lost the NBA, they may not even try to match NBCUniversal's deal or Disney/ESPN's deal or Amazon's deal, most likely that money goes to NCAA CFPs, AEW (if AEW opts to stay on TBS/TNT for Dynamite, Collision and Rampage and bump up their online offerings for their PPVs), NASCAR, French Open of Tennis, Soccer and other rights they recently acquired or trying to maintain. in the case of AEW, they too have rights expiring at the end of the year and WBD's exclusivity part of the negotiations that allows them to prevent other media companies from negotiating with AEW to move their shows away from TBS/TNT ends sometime this month and there's rumors saying we might find out if AEW stays or goes on WBD, maybe next week during the 250th episode of Dynamite.![]()

NBA vs. the Box Office: Here’s Why That $76 Billion Deal Looks Like a Bargain
When theatrical isn't a sure thing, Amazon, Disney, and NBCUni’s deal to spend $76 billion over 11 years on the NBA isn’t as crazy as it might seem.www.indiewire.com
It's official!!! The NBA will get an 11-year contract with ESPN, NBC, Peacock, and Prime Video meaning 2024-25 season will be the final season with WBD.
I predicted the return of live 105, the eagle and now this. Y’all can win some serious cash in Vegas with me 🤣But wait...there's more

Warner Bros. Discovery Intends To Match Amazon’s NBA Rights Deal
NBA incumbent Warner Bros. Discovery plans to match Amazon’s new basketball rights deal that's said to be in the $1.8 billion range, Deadline hears.deadline.com
yeah, i'm not betting on this, also everyone knows WBD already has lost this even before they could place a bid, cause it's clear they are already unable to match the offers from Amazon Prime Video, NBCUniversal and ESPN/Disney. plus i wouldn't be surprised if WBD is more all in on Hockey, College Football, NASCAR and AEW if they can keep AEW TV on their networks.I predicted the return of live 105, the eagle and now this. The article says they intend to match. So, WBD is lying? The deadweight that’s AEW will be gone soon. They’re adding other sports to give them something to air year roundyeah, i'm not betting on this, also everyone knows WBD already has lost this even before they could place a bid, cause it's clear they are already unable to match the offers from Amazon Prime Video, NBCUniversal and ESPN/Disney. plus i wouldn't be surprised if WBD is more all in on Hockey, College Football, NASCAR and AEW if they can keep AEW TV on their networks.
Wrestling ... always wrestling. (sigh). I know you're never going to believe it, but wrestling is fringe again, not mainstream as it was in the Hulk Hogan or even the Steve Austin or Dwayne Johnson days, and nobody's in a bidding war over AEW,yeah, i'm not betting on this, also everyone knows WBD already has lost this even before they could place a bid, cause it's clear they are already unable to match the offers from Amazon Prime Video, NBCUniversal and ESPN/Disney. plus i wouldn't be surprised if WBD is more all in on Hockey, College Football, NASCAR and AEW if they can keep AEW TV on their networks.
We'll see. You'll need to recover at least 2X your rights fees to recover and profit from your investment. Since Peacock is subscription streaming, that means over eleven years, NBCU will need to gross $13.82B per season. That's a lot to ask for a stream these days.Major "get" for Peacock.
Understood. It also depends on how many, and which, NBA games are exclusive to Peacock. I don't imagine Peacock's early Sunday MLB package (since lost to another streaming service) attracted many new subscribers. The Peacock NBA package needs to be much more substantial -- marquee teams, playoff games -- to move the needle. We'll see. And given the divisional differences between NBC Sports and Peacock, I'm not sure how the expenses and revenue expectations, including dividing up rights fee costs per game will work exactly. Chances are, they don't even have that plan nailed down yet.Understood. It also depends on how many, and which, NBA games are exclusive to Peacock. if it's fringed, then why the hell did Netflix paid big money for WWE Raw, why the hell did Dwayne come back to WWE to play apart of the hottest angle of 2024 (the Cody Rhodes "Finish the Story" arc aka Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns), then why is Logan Paul part of the company. Wrestling's in a another boom period it seems.Wrestling ... always wrestling. (sigh).
