Will the new calls for 92.3FM be....

ahem.....WNEW? Would fit very well with the "Now" name and format. They still have them parked. They wouldn't have to even mention them, except in an ID - but it would make sense to at least do it for appearance and it goes with the name. The WPB station has no association - formatically, identification-wise, on-air, anything with those calls. Seems logical to me. Thoughts?

WNWO
WNWY
WWNY
WNYW

some suggestions I guess too. Probaly wont be neither, orprobalywill still be WXRK

They could always buy the WNOW calls, which currently belongs to a Spanish station in Gaffney, SC (outside of Charlotte) .

Actually that would make the most sense. Clear Channel purchased "WKTU" from a country station near Atlantic City so I could see CBS spending the money. But more importantly, the company that runs this station would take it! WPOD is available and matches up well with their identifier "Poder 105.3"

I don't see why they wouldn't go for WNEW - they have them, and they fit the format. Not to mention they have a history in NYC (not that it matters to the listener).

If CBS Radio has thoughts of potentially selling off its West Palm Beach stations, it might be of interest to get the WNEW calls back up to New York from the West Palm market where they are parked on B106.3.

I think Now 97.5 in Philly and Radio Now 100.9 in Indianapolis tried to get the WNOW calls and couldn't. WNEW would be perfect, they can move those calls 1200 miles up I-95 back to the place where they were created.

I think they should take the high road and just change their call letters to WFAN-FM, since WFAN 660 currently simulcasts on 92.3's HD3 channel.

Besides, 92.3 will probably turn into a full-time simulcast of The Fan once this "Now" thing flops to begin with...

You can't bring the WNEW calls to New York, they already parked down in West Palm Beach, Florida. Try something else. WNYW? sort of, because of the TV station.

But since CBS owns both stations, they can. It's just like when WXRK moved to Cleveland and back to New York a couple of years ago.

Here's an interesting catch: A brilliant Rolling Stone piece on the demise of K-Rock refers to 92.3's call letters as "WNOW":
http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdai...-radio-station-again-k-rock-shifts-to-top-40/

The CBS-owned WNOW, or NOW FM as 92.3 will be known as of tomorrow, will face off against a giant in New York radio in Z100, a Clear Channel-owned Top 40 radio station that’s been around since 1983 and represents the Number Two radio station in the region...

Not sure how uninformed the Rolling Stone is about the calls currently being assigned to not one, but two cities (Gaffney, SC and Bessemer City, NC).

So are they going to be WNOW ? I guess we should see. If CBS got those calls how come Greater Media could never get them for 97.5 Now in Philly. And if those aren't the calls WNEW would be great and move the WNEW Rock station to 92.3 HD2 making 102.7 HD2 something new, not sure what yet.
