WILL THE WOLF HOWL IN AUSTIN?

which station- they have 3 fm's and 1 am. i not going to try to quess which one, it will probably get upset somebody.
 
It would be nice to see a new country station around, but the thing is, other stations already tried to compete with KASE, and all of them failled. 93.3 tried twice 94.7 tried once. It would be interesting to see if that does happen.

I worked at Lone Star when it was on the air. We sounded great. But too narrow for Austin. If it's too teen oriented and 18-24 ish it won't make much a dent. However if they go for 25-35 and widen it to 25-54 over time and hire experienced personality jocks and stay with it at least 5 years they may do well.
 
The beat had a good run this time around I would almost think they would flip 94.7 before the beat.
 
I just did some investigating and found the Mix 94.7 Website down. jbandsandy.com is also having problems so my money is on 94.7 flipping to Country or Movin. Entercom discovered that Mix had horrible numbers outside of JB and Sandy and that a flip to Country or Movin with all new jocks except for JB and Sandy. JB and Sandy constantly outperform the station and other morning shows around Austin so keeping them is a no brainer!
 
newsflash: Jb and Sandy arent in the top 5 in either demo 18-34 or 25-54.

I wish they were in San Antonio. Another easy show to take down.
 
Isn't the Beat looking for a new PD? why do the search if they are flipping?
 
Well, if anyone thinks there's a flip for 94.7 because of a down website, that theory just got shot out of the water! ;D
 
if this was a few months back I would probably agree, but I doubt that Entercom will flip 104.3 just yet especially since the past 2 ratings show them ahead of Hot 93.3 the first time since Hot passed them before they flipped to all talk.
 
Ratings dont mean anything at Entercom. None of the stations have any! Also, BEAT is making zero money.Bank on it flipping. They have invested zero in programming or talent. If they hired a morning show, Id expect them to stick with the format.
 
Mix and Magic are serious money-makers, Entercom isn't going to risk cutting off the hand that feeds them. (Beat bills towards the bottom of the Austin list... often beat by BOTH sports AM's) BUT, one interesting note: There is a STRONG rumor that Univision has bought the Beat, but nobody is really talking yet and obviously nothing has been filed with the FCC. If this is the case, could mean the current format could still have more life, or would they flip it to something Spanish?

How can the beat still bill low even when they came back almost 2 years ago and go into a lot of commercials and the DJs saying they have to pay bills and be back in 4 minutes or less? I don't understand that. Its a good radio station but I don't know they are at the bottom of the list for billing. Do somebody know where to find out about the stations billing reports online?

The rumor is true. Long faces at BMP.
 
The rumor is true, Univision bought BMP? Hmmm, I wonder when everything is going down. I too have heard the rumors swirling, but nothing concrete until I came here. Where did you find your info if you don't mind me asking.
Has anything been filed with the FCC yet?

Univision recently purchased KXBT from Entercom. Univision did not purchase BMP. The long faces
at BMP are the result of possibly more competition for their Spanish-language cluster. Univision may
decide to keep KXBT's format, or they may decide on one of their Spanish-language formats.
 
I bet they would flip the station instead of keeping the current format, because then that would be more competition for BMP. I find it hard to believe that they would keep the hip/hop format. I'm thinking that we should hear something soon, now, I'm anxious to see when it will happen. Interesting, interesting! Univision has a hip hop format station in Houston, but the signal is horrible and the ratings aren't high in comparison to 97.9 the BOX, which has been around for a long time.

Don't know, only time will tell. When do you think Univision will file with the FCC? and how long does the process take for one radio station to acquire another?
