Will their ever be a day when...

sites like accuradio and 977music.com are available inside the car?

I mean, yea you have XM but I listen to 977 not to mention sites like Roku radio alot and this would be as good IMO at least to me as Onstar on many GM vehicles.

Just thinking out loud.

Re: Will their ever be a day when...YES

WiMax is already available in a couple of cities in California and it won't be long before T-Mobile and Verizon roll it out elsewhere. Right now, with your iPhone or a Palm Centro, you can stream internet radio through the auxiliary input jack standard on most car radios for the last two years.

Ford's Sync option and a similar device Cadillac is making available allows you to in effect create your own WiFi space with a 10-20 ft radius around your car based on cell phone technology with a $30 per month subscription...we're only a couple of years away from this being widespread.

I have a HTC diamond phone from Sprint and so far I have managed to listen to bnet radio and also RAdio Aleluya. I have tried to get other stations but im still having problems finding them.

The average age of a vehicle in the US today is 9 years, so it would take 18 years of new cars to fully cover the automotive market... assuming everyone subscribes.

I did not know that anyone other than Clearwire was wiring cities (they have done Portland, among others) as the Sprint/Clearwire deal fell through and nobody has the capital today for the infrastructure.
