Will Univision finally get the upper hand on SBS?

Now that Univision is poised to take over the 96. 3 full class b frequency, will this be the trump card that allows them to overtake Mega in the ratings?

Will the Luis Jimenez morning show finally pay off as well?

There's no doubt that Univision Radio is willing to pay the big bucks to do so. You have to give SBS some credit as well for being able to stay on top all these years in NYC inspite of competing with a corporation with much deeper pockets.
 
we just have to wait and see, now, la kalle has a good chance to compete with sbs..things should be interesting at the end of this year

I'm almost certain the morning show was a factor as well.
 
Not that this is scientific... but everywhere I have gone locally with spanish music since the new X96.3 came out, (stores, reception office, waiting rooms, taxis etc) (I am in the South Bronx btw) I have heard/seen 96.3 in ...yes 100% of establishments, out of approximately 10 or so places. I know its a small sample, and definitely wont reflect rating (just no way :) ) But the disparity atleast here is noticeable. Why? I have no idea, but Ive yet to hear La Mega anywhere here.

I am sure that would affect the PPM if anyone passed through this area.

Not really. Very short listening spans, such as the amount of time one is in a colmado or bodega, may add a cumer or two, but they actually reduce the average time spent with the station by "real" listeners. And the ratings data most used by advertisers is not the come (total reach) but the average audience size, which is affected most by the length of time tuned in.
 
Would the ratings of WXNY have been any different if this was under the Diary? Would the ratings had been larger or smaller?

Since high performing lower-cume and higher-TSL formats generally came down more in the PPM from the diary levels, it would be a safer bet to think that WXNY would have looked even better in the diary.
