Will WAQZ be "Jacked" at 8:00 AM Tuesday?

Lots of rumors - started by Howard himself - that some of his affiliates will flip to JACK at 8 AM on Tuesday. Could Cincinnati's "New Rock 97.3" be one of them?

How would this affect Q102? I've noticed Q is much more current and younger skewing lately. They're also doin glots of local jock stuff. Could set it apart from a JACK sister.

The way WAQZ has been editing the show lately it could very well be. However, I doubt it unless they want to dump all of the 15 min commercial breaks durning his show. The Infinity jack station in Buffalo runs Howard in the morning.

To answer my own question: NO! We'll get "Rovered"

Rover gets the morning show in Cincy, Memphis, and Chicago

David Lee Roth gets the east coast and Cleveland and Pittsburgh

Adam Carolla gets the west coast

No format change in Cincinnati, but lots of big changes in NYC, L.A., Philly, and Dallas. Just to name a few

Never heard of the guy, but my "google" search shows a local Columbus phone number. His website suggests that he's just another Stern poser. What's he done to earn this kind of break?

Rover's been doing mornings in Cleveland for around four years. He's also worked in Seattle, Denver, Knoxville, and Las Vegas. I think he was on some type of comedy radio network as well.

I haven't heard his show in recent years. I have heard him described as a "younger, less edgy Stern". I'm sure his show is in the realm of what you would expect to target young males. It has to be at least somewhat entertaining or I doubt Infinity would have enough faith in him to put his show on in so many large markets.

I'm in Las Vegas and knew Rover when he was just getting started in radio in the early 90s. At the time I needed extra income to supplement my radio job so I worked part-time telemarketing overpriced vitamins (and sadly made way more money selling vitamins lol). I met Rover in the boiler room, he was just out of high school. He loved radio and we would talk about radio for hours. He had all sorts of ideas, I remember one of his dreams was to host and syndicate a countdown show. At the time, I don't think he ever would have expected that one day he would replace Howard Stern on his Midwestern affiliates.

Rover was such a cool guy. I remember him as a very decent, intellegent young man with a huge passion for radio. Even if he might not remember me (although he probably does, I would guess he could nail the "Who is Jay F" question by reading this post), I am very happy for him. I hope he does well in all his new markets including Cincy.
