You also gotta wonder what the folks at 103.9, and 98.9 are thinking with their formats when a station like 107.1 beats them! (though I know its still early for 98.9's format with a total change from previous format)..

Does not appear 93.3 WODC lost many listeners either due to Santa arriving on 11/04/11.
 
Interesting that GEN-X has much better cume than WWCD. I'm pleased to see that WWCD does better than it ever did in the diary. The CD listeners are obviously spending more time with their station for the rating to be that high with low cume.

I'm very surprised that Magic continues to perform as well as they do on the light bulb power 106.3 frequency. They've hardly missed a beat.
 
Maybe Wxmg and Wjkr's calls move didn't change according to the reciever used to recieve the ratings. In other words WXMG could be lower rated than WJKR. There are too many classic hits channels in town now that 933 made the switch and 98.9 jack leans mostly classic hits. There is always room for another CHR on the dial but not to be done by Clear Channel due to them owning WNCI. Maybe one of the non Clear channel classic hit stations should try it. As for 1067 who knows what will happen.
 
We definitely could use a new CHR, but nobody has the nads to do it. A lot of stations performed poor and you have to wonder what the PD's are thinking. I know The Hawk and WINK aren't going anywhere, and I pray they don't blow up Mix, but I mean, with that frequency, not much else is going to do better than Mix... I just think Mix should transition into a hotter format because why be Hot AC when you'll pull the same listeners, if not more as a mainstream or rhythmic station.

Gen X is a trainwreck, I rarely listen.

Agreed.  Would someone mind sending the following document to Jack-FM?  My emails to them have always been returned as undeliverable (another indicator of not minding the store?).  Thank you.  :)

I think the poorly-programmed, low-signal-strength TED-FM had about a 2 share after a few books (and that was with the less-Adult-Hits-friendly diary), so if decent-signalled Jack doesn't start getting even half that high in the next few months (even with TV and billboards), something flakey is going on.

What's flakey was Radio One's decision to make the programming changes in the first place. 0.5 and 0.6 don't surprise me, that's about what I expected, considering that the people who would like the music on 98.9 have already been listening to those same songs on other local stations for years/decades, and so those people must figure -- why should I switch?
Instead of Jack-FM, Radio One should've tried Jake-FM. :)
 
Columbus has WAY too many classic hits stations, IMHO. 93.3, 98.9, 103.5/104.3, 103.9 AND 106.7 all playing some variety of nostalgia from the 70s 80s or 90s??? There's a huge hole in this market for a rhythmic CHR...but Clear Channel or Radio One won't fill it since they would cannibalize NCI or Power. On the other hand, Saga or North American would have NOTHING to lose by switching one of their second tier stations and taking on the big boys head on.

Or, if CD101 does lose their liscense, put on CD 103 (.5 or .9...take your pick).
 
If a new rhythmic CHR would "cannibalize" two existing stations, or take them on "head on", then it's a little hard for me to see how this hole is so huge. Can we call it a mini-hole instead? I mean, if you wanna talk about a huge hole, I'll tell ya about a huge hole! (But don't worry, not here, Mr. Moderator -- I know that I've already done that with the posting of my manifesto that knowbetter requested elsewhere on this board.)
 
Depending on the signal and how it was programmed depends on how bad it'd hurt WNCI or Power. I think it'd kill Power, but NCI is force to be reckoned with. Putting a rhythmic on that plays both CHR and Rhythmic jams would definitely hurt Power, and it's the perfect time to do it while Power is losing listeners each book.
 
I'd be happy with a Hot 102.9 clone out of little old Dayton that puts Power to shame. It makes too much sense for anyone to do a Rhythmic CHR in Columbus so therefore it will never happen here.
 
I just want to say that I've been preaching on these boards and to anyone who would listen for YEARS that we need a Rhythmic CHR here in Columbus. I've learned the hard way though that it's just not going to happen and I've learned to deal with it to the point that I really don't even listen to traditional radio anymore. In my new car I have Sirius and my other car I hooked up my iPhone for streaming radio so until things change, the industry is forcing us "the listeners" to change and that's precisely what I've done.
 
I called Rosati to request a window estimate last week, and the girl asked me two questions that she said she was required to ask of all her customers: what's your favorite radio station, and what's your favorite local TV station for news. When I told her WCRS in response to her first inquiry and explained why, she said she understood and added, "Oh, you wouldn't believe how many people tell me that they don't listen to the radio at all anymore." Oh yes I would, I responded.
Dawg, 'CRS is always on the lookout for new programs, so please feel free to put together a demo if you're so inclined, and submit it to our programming committee. The first step is going to http://wcrsfm.org/volunteer. I'm not going to name any (user)names, but one frequent contributor to this board messaged me not too long ago concerning volunteer opportunities at the station, and I met another one for the first time at our meeting last Tuesday! We sure would love to have you (and anyone else) consider joining us.
 
Ted FM played a much wider playlist than what the current Jack does. If any of you can pull Sam FM in You'll notice they play a few current songs and pop flavored songs compared to the classic rock sounding jack. Sam FM is sort of what Ted FM used to sound like. If you stream Pittsburgh's 96.9 Bob Fm and Detroit's Doug they seem wider on the music front also.
 
I currently program a Rhythmic CHR out of Columbus called RDL101.com... basically what Power 1075 should be. I will agree with dawg that Hot 1029 out of Dayton is a better hip-hop station than Power, but even they get boring listening to them longer than an hr or two. However, look at their numbers. They're in the 9's and is currently the #2 station in Dayton, only getting beat by heritage K99.1. Will we ever get another hip-hop station? Hope so. CHR station? Nobody has the balls to compete with WNCI.

As far as Sam FM, I used to pick them up in Athens during school last quarter. They sound pretty cool with their jingles and fun imaging. They were a bit of a trainwreck through coming in and out of spots since they are indeed satellite-programmed. I'll try to pick them up tonight here in Columbus but there's a 98.3 translator that interferes. I don't think Jack FM sounds BAD, but I have noticed they're pretty tight-sounding. Probably the worst programmed station in C-Bus right now though is Gen X which led me to create this post. Will we get a new 106.7? I think they would've stunted with XMAS until Jan 1 if it wasn't for sister station, Oldies 93.3 doing so. CC needs to give it up. Gen X NOR alternative is working on that format. If they were smart, they'd do something similar to Click 1015 in Dayton, but two reasons they won't... 1) It's too close to WNCI.... 2) Click isn't really generating big numbers either.

I still never understood the logic of Power flipping to Urban. When they were playing Timbaland, Rihanna, Gaga, Jason Derulo - they were #1 in the city and made the paper. They left it for Gucci, Waka Flocka, and Keyshia Cole... now they're hurtin'.... this is a city where there's a big gay population, mexican audience, and it's a town where the hits win and the street stuff doesn't work... just my two cents. :)
