Will We See An Earlier Flip To Christmas Music This Year In The Boston Market?

I'm hearing Baby, It's Cold Outside again. #MeToo ended when Kobe Bryant got a televised funeral, and also when Kamala Harris accepted the Vice-Presidential nomination.
So, I guess both the Political climate and Covid may have ended some of the pettiness then?

I have not heard that song get airplay this year.
I think it is gone

The Pouges Fairytale song, I heard only on non-comm

Overall I think 106.7 did a better job this year with a better playlist.

Magic will have a new midday voice sometime in January. The current jock who is based at Audacy's station in Las Vegas is signing off on Friday.

I forgot that Nancy Quill had retired. I did not realize that they were voice-tracking either. Not surprising at all though. At least Karen Blake is a mainstay! David O'Leary still doing mornings, and David Allen Boucher still doing nights as well!

She didn't retire, she was let go to save money.

Regardless of the political stance on it, I always hated that song. Sad thing is that I called it "a date rapist anthem" 25 years ago. I only got off that soapbox when it became the flavor of the week for the college age "be offended about everything crowd" took notice. "Gosh you lips look delicious" said multiple times in the song made me think either he's trying to roofie her, or it's actually sung by Hannibal Lector. 🤣

Spend the evening with music presented by two of Boston's radio legends— Eric Jackson of GBH's Eric in the Evening will play some of his favorite holiday music beginning at 5 p.m. Then at 8 p.m., Oedipus, former program director at WBCN, will present his annual Christmas Eve With Oedipus show of rare and obscure Christmas songs, which he’s hosted for more than 40 years. Tune in GBH 89.7 or listen online!

Yes, I am only hearing what is being put over the intercom at restaurants myself.
Now, I thought that Baby, It's Cold Outside has been omitted from playlists for being deemed politically incorrect?
I’ve heard the song on some stations (WWLI, WSRS and I think WKLB). It was played on some stations last year too. 2019 was the only year that it was truly blacklisted, it seems.

I saw a Facebook post from Lite 105 saying they’ll be playing it through January 29th! I sure hope they mean December 29th. But both 106.7 and 96.1 are still playing Christmas music today.

106.7 stopped this morning, but MyFM 101.3 is still going. It’s interesting because yesterday morning they aired the normal version of American Top 40. Were you surprised they went this year?

Well 105.1 is back to regular music now.

The season is over.

I hope if a station does decide to change formats in 2022, they do it in September by playing Christmas music till 12/30/22 and then flip to whatever new format they will do.
