Will We See An Earlier Flip To Christmas Music This Year In The Boston Market?

I can see iHeart flipping all their stations that will go all-Christmas in 2022 (which will be more than 80) as early as November 1st, even though the midterm election campaign (and the political attack commercials that go with it) won't have ended.

However, very few political ads air on music-formatted stations. Most political ads on radio appear on all-news, all-talk, or news/talk stations, so all-Christmas flips on November 1st likely won't result in Christmas music sharing the same airwaves as political attack commercials.

Given the economic problems we now have, and as retailers could have a disastrous Christmas shopping season (and for most commercial radio stations that play music, most of their revenues come from retail advertisers), could 24/7 Christmas music begin on or around November 1st on most stations that usually do so?

Many retail advertisers love putting spots on all-Christmas radio stations, so I think it wouldn't be far-fetched for retail advertisers and their agencies to pressure broadcasters by telling them "We could struggle this Christmas season. Remember that retailers like us give your industry most of it's revenue. You can help us with Holiday sales if you start 24/7 Christmas music early, say on November 1st, as it will remind people to open their wallets and start their Christmas shopping".

^^^ Hear, hear! I hereby nominate CTListener to the Radiodiscussions bylaws committee! A few weeks ago someone else started a Christmas-related thread and I made a similar comment there. We're not even partway through June yet, we haven't even made it to Christmas in July, and yet the Christmas music speculation has already begun.

It's already on radio. Buy time on WMJX HD-2 from December 26th to whenever Audacy decides to make the flip. As for now, it isn't even the first offical Day of summer. It hasn't even been regularly above the 60s in temp in New England for longer than a month. Can we enjoy the (coming offical) summer season before going full focused on Christmas? I already am ready to go to my yearly battle with the Halloween nerds over their countdown which always starts on the first day of summer, and people want to bring up Christmas?!? For shame!

You know, it’s possible to not make downright silly “predictions” let alone in mid June?
