Will WILL win?

So anyone in the Jacksonville/Wilmington area hearng the new Will FM at 98.7?

Who Will it hurt? or Will it?

Good God...How come NC is always the last in line?...The Jack Formats (I assume that's what this is) are dying and it figures there's another one starting up AFTER the research says that the jack formats have lost steam.

Here's how every Jack station does in the country...it causes a buzz...pulls some numbers....makes some money and then goes down the toilet...This will be no exception....in 8 months to a year it will go spanish or country....just my humble opinion...

Does anyone else think it's time to raise the bar and move past the Jack Crap?

I agree. I think that what would suit this area is a Christian station with a Hot AC approach. Female numbers would be through the roof. Not sure if that will happen anytime soon, but it would be a ratings winner. Although, I would think that mixing God and radio would double my chance of getting struck by lightning!!! :-\

A Christian format will do great in Eastern, NC. Most people in Top 40 in this area have been saying this for years...Mixing God and Radio can be a great thing for many people...it's a void that needs filling...it took some time but we finaly got some spanish stations....look how well they are doing!!!! Not that I listen to that crap but someone was smart enough to fill a void.

First of all, Will isn't Jack. And even if it was, there are some successful Jack stations like the one in LA that are sustaining and even growing from their initial success.

The guy consulting NextMedia on Will is the same guy behind most of the Adult Hits stations that are going by the "Bob" name. Bob stations in Norfolk, Austin and Pittsburgh are doing incredibly well--especially on a 25-54 basis--and are showing no signs of shooting to the top and then fizzling.

Will Will win? That depends on how well it is executed and whether NextMedia provides the appropriate level of marketing support. But to write it off with comments like "The Jack Formats are dying" demonstrates a pretty high level of cluelessness.

Yeah the few Jack Stations that are doing well are the ones with money because it's being done RIGHT...You said it yourself..LA...well, this is eastern NC. The jack formats only work when done RIGHT....not just crazy block programming, no jocks and a voice guy with a little attitude...that doesn't work for long.

"Yeah, look at the country version. DOWN DOWn DOwn Down."

Just as with anything....it has to do with the WAY the format is executed. If you don't believe that check out WMOJ. Still Jammin Oldies...still kicking ass...while most of the rest of em are gone!

Hank FM in Indy is doing GREAT...still growing (and hasn't hurt the heritage country station at all...go figure)
