Will WROR expand/tweak its playlist?

Lots of '70s/'80s music is going to be lost with the end of WODS. How will WROR, the likely fallback station for disenfranchised, respond? By adding pop, soul and disco titles to its current ultra-tight selection of rock staples? Replacing a few of the old warhorses with pop/soul/disco while remaining tight, or just continuing with its current formula?

They should!

And if they do, I think they'll see a healthy increase in listeners this Summer.....and maybe it will be soft-AC WMJX-106.7 (and not WROR) that becomes Greater media's all-Christmas station this year.

This is a great opportunity for WROR to break out of being the boring, lame station that they currently are.

I could see a few, minor music tweaks from them, but that's about it. They will probably continue to split the difference between WODS's old format and WZLX. I suppose more 80's tracks could filter in, but don't expect the disco and the dancier 80's stuff. This IS GM we're talking about. Milquetoast is how they roll...

I streamed WROR on iHeartRadio this afternoon. They aren't terrible, but they lack the "sound" of a classic hits station like WODS and other large market classic hits properties. The presentation is quite boring. The station does stay on the rock/soft rock/mainstream pop side, but they do play a few mainstream disco staples like Bee Gees, Sister Sledge, and KC & The Sunshine Band.

It could be slightly tweaked to include more disco/R&B tracks to help make the former WODS listeners feel more at home.

That's my one issue with WROR... the presentation is lacking. It doesn't have any excitement or "pop" (as in popping off the dial, not musically).

What they would be wise to do is hire some of the former WODS personalities and grab a piece of the former audience.

Notwithstanding all of your comments, WROR was doing better in the ratings recently than WODS. My theory is that the increased amounts of disco and 80's hurt 'ODS and people preferred the more 60's & 70's rock orientation of 'ROR. Personally, I prefer the Moody Blues to Gloria Gaynor.

One immediate thing 'ROR can do to add a little buzz is to bring back JJ Wright and add Paula Street.
