Will WVAQ and friends ever stream?

I was wondering if the WV Corp stations would ever consider streaming. I think WVAQ and WKKW would sound awesome online. I miss listening to them when I'm at school.

That would be cool .. I worked at WKKW many years ago when Chuck Warren was there in the 70's .. Jim Dorsey and Jana Lee haha .. Ton of years ago . When they were on 106 frequency. I would be VERY intrested in the sound they have now .I tap my foot to hear any response.

I found out that sister station WAJR has an online stream, and 107.3 Jack FM (Charleston) is getting a stream, so maybe VAQ and KKW will get a stream soon.

WAJR used to have a guy named Bill Mahoney in the morning if I remember right .. It was on 1380 AM .. rock .. Lot's of Echo effect on it LOL .. Good times in those old days . What is WAJR now > ? .. Are they still rock ? .. Plus have you heard Froggy in Fairmont? .. My son is doing afternoons there now.. He was consieved on the turntables of WKKW haha .. Ok maybe not but thats where I was working when he was concieved. Always curious of WVa Stations.

No, WAJR is a talk station now, I don't know for how long they have been that way. Their web site should be wajr.com, if you want to check it out. Yeah, I used to listen to Froggy 102.7 back when I lived in Valley Bend, near Elkins. Most of the time I was able to pick it really well from Fairmont, but from time-to-time it would interfere with Electric 102.7 from Charleston. And before the station was Froggy, I remember it being known as WTUS.

Yeah, it would be great to be able to stream 'VAQ...can't imagine it won't happen pretty soon. (With KKW, you won't be missing much if you don't hear them ever stream.)

You are confusing WAJR-Morgantown with WHAR-Clarksburg. WAJR-MOrgantown is on 1440 AM while WHAR is at 1340 AM. WHAR used to be known as "13-Rock" in the "Mahoney In The Morning" years. I got my start overnight at WHAR in 1983 and at that time, Mahoney had been there 12 years. I believe he had over 20 years at WHAR/WVHF. Ironically, I now program WAJR-Morgantown and yes, we are streaming. Visit www.wajr.com and you'll see the stream link in the upper-right.

Bill Mahoney had a total of about 28 years at WHAR/WVHF..He came there from another 1340,WCVI in Connellsville,Pa. and did evenings on WHAR from 1971-1975.Sometime in 1975 he moved to WCIR in Beckley but came back to WHAR about a year later in the summer of 76..Sometime in the late 70's he moved to mornings on WHAR and then moved to WVHF when they switched the stationsaround in 1989..He left the stations in 2000 if I remember right..I gave him a recommendation about three years ago for a position at WDCI(Kiss-FM) but for whatever reason(I assume monetary) it was short-lived.

I think I know you ..

You worked over night when Mahoney was in the mornings ? ..

I was working over nights at WKKW at that time .. Was going by TJ Bowers at the time ..

My first gig was there .. I was also at WJLS in Beckley and also PD at WWNR there once ..

Man Mahoney to me was a REAL talent when I was in those days . Hope he is still humping mic ..

I am doing afternoons in Ocala Florida after a stint on Orlando and Tampa and BURNT out on the traffic .. (SUCKS) ..

I remember T.J. Bowers on WKKW..Did'nt you start out as the janitor at KK?..During your period there(76-79) I worked at 1400 WBBN which was in the Robinson Grand Theater Building..I went from there to a 10 year stint at Country WPDX(79-89) doing both Evenings and Afternoon Drive..After WPDX I went to Oldies WOBG through 1995..Since then I have worked Part time at WDCI(Kiss-FM) and lastly W.Va Radio Corporation doing on air on Classic Rock 102.3 the FBY where Mark Rogers presently does Afternoon Drive.

Hahah

No not the Janitor but nights. 7pm to 6am when Jim Dorsey came on then later went to 7 - 11 and did afternoons for a short while.

But yeah I remember you Niles. You were always a pro man. You and Mahoney were my local heros.

I been down the road since then. But long good stint in this buisness. Some in the majors and happy as hell in the medium now.

Hope you are doing well.
