WILLIAM J. GRAVINO a.k.a BILL MARSHALL

I am deeply saddened to tell everyone that Bill Marshall a.k.a Bill Gravino has died. Bill was at one-time Program Director at WVLT-FM in Vineland, and spent 15 years as the Operations Manager of WTMR in Camden.

I met Bill through Bob Charger, and hired Billy for weekends at WAMS in Wilmington...during which time, Bill was involved in a real bad car wreck that almost killed him. Through a string of health problems and pain that never went away, Bill was a pro and a nice nice man. His wife of 32 years called me this afternoon with the news, that he died peacefully at home Thursday afternoon March 19th.

One of my favorite times was working with Bill, first as a fellow DJ then as his APD/MD at WVLT for a short time. We butted heads, of course, but I always respected him. He was one of the last real defenders of personality radio in the market and he will be sorely missed.

It was great seeing the people from across the market who turned out for Bill's funeral yesterday. It was a great tribute to a class act.
