Willie 92.5 changes Calls again from KLWL to KWLI

I'm listening to Willie and it seems they switched calls again from KLWL to KWLI effective 1/12. KWLI does fit the Willie name a bit better but really what was wrong with KLWL?? Why switch calls in the first place to KLWL and then switch again to KWLI? Is Don and the other folks at CBS losing it? Seems like a waste of time to me.

Also, alot of new imaging. They've got a bunch of new sweepers and a new TOH sweeper/jingle. With the new imaging it sounds much much better then before. Now to see what air talent will appear. It's the month date mark since the launch. We shall wait and see.

It's really not that big of a deal one way or another. Cutting a new legal ID doesn't take much time, and it's a $65 fee roughly at the Commission to change calls. So, it's really just pennies in the bucket compared to a radio station's operating expenses. Switches like this really aren't all that uncommon. KALC was KAKL for about three weeks when it first became Alice after sending the KBPI calls and format to 106.7. I was thinking someone else had the KALC calls at the time of the switch, but RecNet's database doesn't indicate those calls were in use at the time. Also, the KWLI calls were once at a station NRC presently owns. So, it's possible Infinity held off on picking up those calls in case there were any outstanding trademarks belonging to NRC. After all, you never want to anger a direct competitor.
