Long-time radio personality, Willie Edwards, has resigned from Davidson County Broadcasting's AM station, WLXN. They also own 94.1, the oldies station. Willie was once part of the "Wes & Willie" morning show on WRQK-FM, along with Wes Jones, who is now at 98.3 Country Legends. Willie worked for them for over 20 years and was very popular in the Lexington area.

Best wishes and good luck, Willie, in whatever you do next. You'll be much happier not having to deal with those people.

wes & willie together again at 98.3 Country Legends??? that'd be cool.

98.3 FM is another Davidson County radio station is owned by GHB. If Willie is really serious about his career he should never want to be associated with another radio station licensed to any community in Davidson County. Congratulations Willie for finally leaving the Hilton Hell Hole.

Willie is good people. He will land on his feet, whatever he chooses to do next.

Are you kidding? That place is a total Hell Hole. There are some nice people working there, but owner and upper management are a JOKE!

Campbell is a complete moron, he probably drove Willie off.

Or, maybe Willie just decided to retire and enjoy the wealth he built with 40 years in the radio business!

Willie's been around the block a time or 2, and likely sees the writing on the wall. Campbell doesn't have time to bother AM folks, he's busy bailing water on the FM. I just don't see Willie retiring- he's multi-talented and has a LOT of friends in the biz.....I'd bet my beer money we haven't heard the last of him.

I'll have to agree with you GHattaway. Willie's still a vibrant personality and I think he will resurface somewhere before long...most likely in a high profile news/talk position. I suspect there might be some opportunities with Curtis. After all, Max Meeks of WMFR is really up in age, and who knows what else might be on the horizon.

;D I have know Willie since he was on WRQK and I was at WTOB and have worked with him several times. He's always been a straight up guy with me and I wish him and his wife the Best. Rock

::) Flipped the dial to the BIG 1440 WLXN and lo and behold..Bob Mahoney is on the air doing Willie's Job..I guess that means Mahoney has now done the complete circuit in Triad Radio.. Hahaha Steve Finnegan took Mahoney's job doing News....I guess Finnegan has turned the whole trick in the Triad too.. What's next Dusty Dunn..No...Wait..Rob Davis hasn't been in Lexington Yet..Neither has MayCay Beeler...But Shesssss....Bacckkkkkkk on TV again...Hahahahaha.. This is the funniest yet!!!! Better than Bob and Leslie..I hear there's a lot of water being "baled" on that "Magic Station"

I saw Willie today and he looked like he's healing really well. He looks healthy and happy and had a big smile on his face. Leaving them was the best move he's ever made. He feels appreciated by his new employers. Something he hasn't known for quite a while. Hooray for him! :)

::) Not knocking it, but isn't his new "Employer" his Wife!?

I believe he is working varios jobs for his wife but he is also selling cable advertising. I only recently heard this so please confirm with him before spreading to many rumors

Let's be realistic! We all know that when we are asked to leave a job we love, we put on a happy face when we run into our friends down the road. We all want to be thought of as "doing well".

Truth is it hurts! Put ten or fifteen years into a station only to have the business decide you no longer fit their plan just plain hurts. There is little reward for loyalty in this day and age!

Those of us who have been fired (more than once, I might add) and those of you who will be fired (more than once more than likely) - will always put on a happy face and make the best of a bad situation. Often, we land on our feet, and sometimes with even more sure footing.

But it still hurts!

Willie is a great guy and I wish him well!
