WILM Changes

Looks like there will be a change for WILM's morning news.

Annie Nefosky is leaving to do a TV gig in another market.

It's great to see a talented, bright young news person get a chance to move up in this business. That doesn't always happen when you are in the Wilmington market.

Will they go to the well of people they laid off to fill her spot, or possibly try to steal somebody away from WDEL?

There is a long history of WDEL stealing from WILM rather than the other way around. The issue is simply money. Even a part timer on WDEL would be better off staying put.

I did replace a guy who jumped ship from WDEL to the 1450 news team back in the 90's. But he was simply using that as a stepping stone until he got a gig at WCTC in NJ.

Giving WILM some credit, they did bring back Ted Efaw, who was one of the numerous WILM'ers let go last year when CC gutted the station. So it's not beyond the realm of possibilities that a former WILM'er could come back. One thought though, WILM has generally tried to have a male/female co-anchors during the morning drive newscast. There weren't many women left at WILM when the cuts were made. Nancy Bestitos (sp) is still at WILM as a part timer on weekends (she has some other career she pursues during the work week, if I remember correctly); all the others are gone. It wouldn't surprise me though if WILM (CC Delaware) is searching for a replacement women co-anchor for the morning newscast, so if you're a female newscast/reporter, this might be a good time to send your tape/CD and resume to WILM.

One option might be, move Max Morgan from WRDX to WILM (assuming she has reporter/writing background). She has a good voice and reads well (assuming she can do the reporter's end of the job along with writing good copy) probably would make a good co-anchor.

Her blog did not say she would be "on" tv, just that she was going to a tv station.
