WILM looking for fulltime news reporter/anchor

With Annie Nosfosky's departure, it is assumed that WILM is looking for another fulltime reporter/anchor. I was looking through one of those online job search places last night for the Wilmington area, sort of trolling along seeing what sort of work is out there ( it's amazing the jobs out there ) and was surprised to see a radio job posted and noticed that yes indeed, WILM is looking for a fulltime reporter/anchor. Probably to fill Ms. Nosfosky's place meaning morning drive. I noticed that Mark Eichmann is teamed up with Mark Fowser on the Delaware this morning broadcast (my guess is this is a temporary situation until Annie's replacement is found). For those looking for a fulltime gig in newsradio, here's your opportunity. Good luck.

I know Mark Fowser and, to a lesser extent, Bob Walton; both are pretty good guys.
Personally, I'd love to see 'ILM go more "talk intensive" in the morning (when Loudell was on they were halfway there anyway).
Naturally, I'd be interested in making that move... ;)

I'd second what you said about Mark Fowser and Bob Walton. I didn't work with Bob, but have gotten to know him after my 7 year stint as a part timer at WILM. Mark was a good guy to work with. WILM now has a top rate facility near New Castle meaning no city wage tax and a nice new set of studios with state of the art equipment. Things have really improved for WILM from the old 12th and French Street days.

WILM certainly sounds better, but there are some gliches (I have to bring in a negative!). During Rush, there is at least 10-seconds of dead air between the station ID and the start of Fox news. It has been that way for weeks, you would think someone would hear it and correct it. Beofre that, the spots ran over into the beginning of the news. They just can't seem to get it right.

This past week, the dish seemed to spike and the audio would then die for a few seconds. Sounds like an adjustment is needed.

But, getting back on topic, WILM still offers a good place for someone looking to start out in news. And with a more healthy building and equipment manufactured after 1952, the young newsbee can work for a year or two without being totally turned off by radio as a profession.

My guess is that no one in the Clear Channel Delaware building in New Castle which houses WILM/WWTX/WRDX have their office monitor tuned in to either WILM or WWTX, but probably have the monitors on WRDX. When you get put on hold (when calling the main switch board line CC not WILM's or WWTX call in numbers) you hear WRDX music rather than WILM or WWTX. As WTUX said, if someone like Bob Walton or Mark Fowser were listening surely they'd have someone correct the nonprofessional sound of the timing of going to Fox news.

The same thing happens when calling Delmarva Broadcasting (not the WDEL call in number), you get to hear WSTW rather than WDEL, which would make me wonder if anyone other than maybe Allan Loudell has their office monitor tuned into WDEL, possibly Rick/Brian/Al during the other's shows, but probably no one else. The reason I say that is once again Al went off on a caller, who was polite, but simply had a different point of view from Al. Al once again was screaming at the caller and telling the call screener to never allow this person to get through again. I can't believe the management of WDEL or Delmarva Broadcasting would find this behavior acceptable for use on air to a caller to their station. Yet, Al gets away with such behavior thus making me believe the powers to be at Delmarva and WDEL have their monitors tuned into WSTW and not their more volitile newstalker WDEL.

Interestingly, Rick and Brian don't get that fired up and abuse their callers like Al seems to need to do when he really disagrees with someone. I guess Mr. Messitti, who's political views seem to make him a good liberal, hasn't heard of free speech, but may prefer political correctness, or certainly has the mantra of its my way or the highway. That is a shame as when he's "on his meds" and in control of his temper, he has an interesting local talk show. I believe you can disagree with someone, even strongly disagree with someone without becoming disagreeable, that includes being the host of a talk show and /or preachers.
