WILM Web Site

WILM revised their web site over the weekend. A bit too busy for my taste, but it does the job.

What I find strange is that there is still no info on Valerie Mack. I would have thought with a major site over haul they would have included her in the News Team info, but only her name is there. Wonder what's up with that?

What happened to Mark Eichman? Did he leave the station?

It seems like there's been a rotating door at WILM lately..hiring for another reporter on all access.
What's that, the third posting in as many months?

WILM has had quite a history of being a good stepping stone to get into major market radio, network radio, or even into television. So it's not surprising that Annie and now possibly Mark have moved on to "greener pastures" in a larger market. I still hear former WILM'er Sharon Middleman, every once in a while, doing a CBS Radio Update, now on WDEL rather than WILM. Just one of many WILM graduates who've grown a successful career in radio while being at WILM.

Annie and Mark have both gone the TV route...Annie is producing for WBOC in Salisbury, and Mark is producing at WHYY

Even little 'ole WNRK sent news folks to the major leagues. Pat (?) Popejoy went to KYW and Pat Downes went to TV. WDEL sent Brad Farrell to CNN (he is now at either CBS or ABC) - I hear his stories on KYW.

WILM is not a station you stay with for your entire career. You stay a year or two (two maximum) and then move up. If you stay at a medium market station like that too long, you are labeled 2nd or 3rd tier and you never can move up.

Of course, for 3rd tier folks like myself, moving up was never an option! But it was fun!

Mark makes the third WILMer ( I know of) to go to channel 12 (WHYY). Patrick Maier and Tom Burns are the other two. There may have been others. Shawn Odomski (sp) also went the TV route from WILM. The last time I heard Shawn was in Providence RI on, I believe, channel 12 there.

Valerie finally has a bio on the web site. Found it yesterday. But it basically talks about her heritage and little about her previous stations.
