Wilma Smith to Retire!

Fox 8 should bring Stephanie up from the morning show to do 6 with Lou. But in the fall they should have Bill and Tracey on at 4,6, and 10, with Stephanie and Lou on at 5. Jennifer Jordan should replace Stephanie in the morning.

Gotta disagree there...

Stephanie was born to do mornings...she has the perfect perky personality for AM news, which features a lot of fluff. Jordan should get the 5 p.m. gig, with McCool at 6 and 10.

Does anybody know if there will be a definite replacement for Wilma at 6 maybe this summer/fall or if Tracey will stay at 6 for a while?

As far as I know, it's Tracy's job for the forseeable future.

Like I said before, McCool has enough "cred" to be able to keep Wilma's chair warm because she herself has been a fixture at WJW for over a decade.

You try to throw Jennifer Jordan or Melissa Mack in that spot before Wilma had both feet out the door, and they'd be DOA.

I will say that WJW is in better shape of finding replacements for longtime anchors than other stations. We all know of the issues WEWS had when they couldn't name an immediate successor to Ted Henry back in '09. Waiting would now pay off for 5 as bring in Chris Flanagan two years later for the 11pm newscast. It is now number one in total viewers according to Cleveland.com.

Maybe 8 will wait until they name an eventual replacement for Wilma. That seems like a more logical move. That and having Tracy McCool on board at 6.

I don't think it was a case that 5 couldn't name a successor as much as it was knowing that if they brought somebody in right on Ted's heels, he wouldn't have a prayer.

8 is doing right by having a familiar, trusted face as Tracy McCool keep Wilma's seat warm...Once some time goes by, a fresh face will fill the chair (or perhaps Jordan gets the 5 p.m. slot and Tracy gets 6 p.m. fulltime)

Tell me if I am wrong here groupies. But does it seem Melissa Mack's delivery is equal to the "Lost In Space" robots voice delivery during her weather segments?
