WILM's mid day newscast and WDEL's mid day newscast

WILM's mid day newscast runs form 11:30-12noon and is a good newscast. I've checking it out these last few days and Mark Fowser does a great job. The format has less production music, sounders, etc to Allan Loudell's mid day newscast on WDEL, but the big perk of WILM's newscast is you get a solid block of news, weather and sports with a couple of useful featurettes (Managing your Money and The Wall Street Journal Report) in 30 minutes. No hype just the news plus commericals. WILM's big drawback is unless I'm listening to WILM at 11:30, I'd not remember to tune in for the mid day news at 11:30, but they've got Rush's show at noon so WILM has no wiggle room there. But if you're looking for a quick solid block of news, weather, sports, with some features mid day, WILM's newscast is a good bet.

Allan's newscast, on the other hand runs for 60 minutes from 12noon-1pm and also covers the news, weather, and sports too and has featurettes along with commericals too. WDEL's news presentational style has more hype that WILM's. WDEL's midday newscast does have the various interviews that are a staple of Loudell's newscasts both mid day and PM drive. I've listen to both WDEL's and WILM's mid day newscasts and enjoy both. Depending on who Allan is interviewing and what they'll be discussing determines if I stay tuned for the interviews or switch over to WILM to hear what Rush is ranting about during the first hour of his show.

If you're looking to hear what a few pundents have to say about various world issues in addition to hearing the news, then WDEL's mid day newscast is for you. Both WDEL and WILM's mid day newscasts are good and worth checking out.
