OK..first up I already know that Winchester's AM 610 is now dark and the towers are gone and that Q102 is now located ( as it has been for the last ten years plus ) at Winchester Regional Airport but what has since became of the building that once housed AM 610 and Q102 and for a brief time 99.3 The Fox? Is the building still there?
Recently in Winchester I tried to take a look at the remains of this only to discover that the old Spinning Wheel Lane was not only blocked off but even the road itself is now defunct with trees and such covering it as well the other road ( WHPL Road ) that led to the site, I couldn't even find that one at all. Its like the entire area was totally erased. No signs I could tell of that planned community either that led to Clear Channel turning off 610 a few years ago.
I used to work at Benchmark for a few years back in the 90's so of course I am curious. I also have heard stories from many deer hunters in the area over the years who had hunted in the area one the stations had moved to the airport saying how they found old "Q102 stuff" in the woods such as records, cds, carts, the remains of "Froggy Frog" and even bobble-head dolls of Randy Woodward and Jenny Lynn..I assume from the short-lived "The Q102 General Store". I would imagine all of this "radio history" has since been cleaned up..or could this stuff still be there in the woods west of Winchester?
