Windows Internet Radio Guide: Atlanta's USA Dance Mix #13 worldwide

Windows Internet Radio Guide has become a popular player around the world for web radio listeners. With close to 400 Electronica/Dance stations presented on the guide, after only 8 months, Atlanta’s USA Dance Mix has risen to Top 20 Dance status. We’ve been climbing their list all month long and are currently at #13, which we feel is quite an honor considering the amount of stations present.

The station features a NEW edgy, Dance music format, 40 YEARS OF DANCE (1975-2015). Dance actually has 41 years as Disco began in 1974. We recently said goodbye to the 2 songs we were playing from 1974. However, at the end of 2015 we will wave goodbye to 19 songs (to keep the 40 year format true). Some call us a retro-station but with close to 50% of our product (Dance-Disco-House) post 2000 we certainly play a lot of current stuff also. What makes the station so popular? We like to take risks.....and the listeners love it! We’re probably one of the first worldwide stations to play the new Chic & Niles Rodger track “I’ll Be There”.

The Disco revival begain in 2007 and is still going strong today. Probably stronger than ever! As people continue to wake up to the limitations of sound alike Electronica, always popular House music and Historical Dance are making a HUGE comeback. Many of the tracks we play are newer versions of older hits, and the listenres love ‘em! Another station innovation is the daily format swing. Friday starts with Dance & Disco songs all about love (with “love” in the title) from midnight till noon. Beleve it or not, this is the most popular porgram on the station! Then at noon Friday The Worldwide Disco Trip takes over and lasts till midnight Sunday (featuring our most popular tracks new/retro). USA Dance Mix continues to be strong on the weekend as many weekday workers are able to listen at leisure. Monday we go more current with newer material (Totally Awesome Monday). Tuesday and Thursday we take on a more Dance/R&B Flavor (Super Soulful Days). Wednesday is ladies day (Womder Woman Wednesday) as about 98% of the songs played are by female singers or artists.

Interesting that a Dance station from Atlatna has actually become popular. We certainly don’t have such a Dance station here in the metro! We’d rather expand our never ending stable of Country and Alternative stations (not). However, if you hop across the dial you can actually piece together a fairly decent one by cherry picking the Dance songs that are presented.

I wish you success in your endeavors. Having said that, I was wondering why you market your station as an Atlanta station when in fact, it is an internet station that happens to be based out of Atlanta rather than being an actual Atlanta station. How many listeners are actually from Atlanta since Atlanta isn't typically viewed as a market that embraces dance music like some others?

There are some listeners in Atlanta but most don't even know it exists. Thus the promotion on this board, which is one of the few avenues available (for free). Even that, I don't think my posts really pull a lot of listeners here. I guess I could reply to 100 posts a day on RadioDiscussions to get the "word out" but a thread here and there is more my speed.

Just don't hate us for being popular. This 40 YEARS OF DANCE format is really a hit!

(sites that rank station popularity)
We're Top 15 Disco at Radiotuna.com
Top 25 Disco at Shoutcast
Top 25 Disco at Streema.com
#1 Dance station at Thestreamguide.com (192 stations!!!) just noticed this one

Sorry, but I don't click on my station all day long. Thanks, for the Stonebrige info I'll check that out. I did have the correct years, then the song titles got reverted, so a lot of the years were pulled from YouTube and Discogs.

Those are the current listeners. Per hour listeners are usually 20-50 or more.

Well your peak only shows 42, yet I've never seen it higher than 24 so that must have been a freak occurrence. I only say that because my stations' peak are only 35 (I have 3 of them), but I can guarantee you that is not the norm. I am lucky to have half of that on each one. So with that being said, I am not trying to brag or give the illusion that I am popular on stream directories. If you say you get 20-50 listeners per hour, that means your traffic is always revolving and your TSL is low. From what I have sampled, I would guess the fact that you don't have proper segues (there is dead space between songs) and the volume levels are not constant between songs either, equals tune out. Plus the fact that you play Diana Ross Upside Down or Donna Summer I Feel Love everyday, and follow up with Will Smith Summertime or Pharrel Happy....doesn't exactly qualify for being in the Electronic category. Just my 2 cents. Not hating, as you like to put it. It simply does not seem like a winning format to me.

According to the last 48 hours report on Centova Cast, my figures are correct. AND the station has now moved up from #13 to #10 on Windows Internet Radio Guide. Isn't at least one of your stations on there also Perry? What current position is it holding down?

You're free to think what you want.

But I'm too busy uploading and working with the station to have the time to punch it up all day on 5 sites that rank by popularity.

We've moved up from #13 to #8 at Windows Medial Internet Radio Guide, by the way.

Bill Gates taketh away.
Blessed be the name of Bill Gates.
Amen.

Apparently someone tried to hi-jack my Tune In stream to Pulse 107 (the station of DJ Perry) but it was rejected by Tune In. Whomever this person is.....they really need to get some help!
