Windows Media Threatening To Stop Traffic for Internet Radio! E-MAIL AND HELP!

Windows Media Radio Tuner sent out an email to stations saying that if by July 31, 2009, they do not remove HTMLview from their stream, they will be delisted. HTMLView is so that when a listener tunes in, it brings up the website so listeners can click ads through Google which usually is the only income a station owner has. Their reasoning behind this is to target mobile phones and they believe the site opening up on a phone is too much on the mobile phone user. Please show us streamers support and email [email protected] and let them know your frustration and disagreement. Do not say what station you are affiliated with or listen to because it could get WMA upset with that station and cause them to get delisted.

Things you can mention in the email:

- How that is one of the only ways station owners can receive income
- How it will not provide a separation between WMP and iTunes
- How WMP/WMA will lose traffic

Any questions, comments, and concerns

radiowayne asks 'didn't the email also encourage windows media streamers to go to instream ads to generate income'?

But, then again, he could be wrong.

Why not just boycott Microsoft? Do you really need to stream in Windows Media?

Broadcasters, yes. We need it to help bring in SOME kind of revenue.

Never used any plugins for Windows Media, all connections I had people do was through iTunes and Winamp to listen to my streams.

While I am pissed off at this change, I'm more pissed off at you posting the contact info, as if the tuner isn't already full enough of shitty stations you're going to make it worse! I'd ask that the moderator erase this topic or blank out the e-mail address.

What they dont understand is: THE APPLICATION WILL JUST IGNORE THE HTML VIEW!!!! (If it doesnt support it)

I can usually load a stream with WMP that has that embedded crap in it w/o the html part!!

I asked and they're also planning on changing the tuner so that all the dots and numbers and other cheaters will finally get their comeuppance!

A CHANGE FOR THE BETTER!

Now as a popularity contest, the stations on top will only be ones that people like listening to enough to click on again and again. All the dot and number cheater sh*t networks are suffering... 181.fm .977 000audio.com (that is the worst one ever) and many more all down the toilet! YES!
