Funny, I always thought their signal was pretty poor, considering their favorable dial position. Can't get them here in Poughkeepsie because of local WHVW-950... but the very fact that these two stations operate on adjacent channels only 30.5 miles apart shows that neither really "gets out".
WRKI (I-95's) signal is also pretty poor for a class B.. in the summer I can very often receive WAYV from Atlantic City right over I-95, as well as WZZO from Pennsylvania, and occasionally (like last night) I can get Cape Cod's WXTK on that channel.
Anyway, ESPN bombed here in Poughkeepsie on WEOK-1390, and WEOK put in a lot of effort with lots of local programming and Yankees, Giants, and more. It's tough without a good nighttime signal. And I believe WSPN's signal is better in Danbury-Putnam than it is in Poughkeepsie. WINE/WPUT's going to have a tough time of it.<P ID="signature">______________
