Lots of posts this book about who won and who lost. From a sales perspective who were the winners:
1. KUBE.
Lost in all the threads about Wolf and Movin, KUBE quietly become the number one station in Seattle 12+. They are so far ahead of the pak 18-34 it is unreal. This station does it book after book. Movin had a good June trend, but KUBE won April, May and June 18-34 and each by a big, big margin. Well done Eric Powers and Shelley Hart. Two long-time pros.
2. KCMS
This station proved once again it is for real. Four or five great books in the top tier 25-54, particularly 25-54 women. This Spring was one of their best. Congratulations to Christa Radio and their team.
3. KPLZ
This station solidly performs and their morning show had one of its best books ever. Attacked by KLSY, JACK and a host of other stations over the years, this station is a survivor and always comes back. Notable that in May and June the station was solidly number one in all key female demos. When KLSY flipped, KPLZ won. Congratulations to Kent and his team, including a morning show celebrating 20 years at the same station.
4. KMPS
Despite a direct attack by Wolf, KMPS held on to a surprising amount of their 12+ numbers and 25-54 numbers, particularly the morning show which finished number one in June. They remain an impressive buy. Ichabod had a tremendous book. This man has been in the market for 30 plus years and still wins.
5. KZOK
This station performs in men year in and year out. Bob Rivers is always number one or two and this book is no different. A solid performer.
6. KISW
This station performs very well in younger male demographics. Losing Stern cut their morning numbers by a third, but that is better than about any other Stern replacement in America. Well done. A solid buy.
Who were the losers:
KBKS is having a tough time of it, slipping for several books and will most likely need to make some changes. JACK is sliding, as most expected. KNDD needs a complete retooling along with KING-FM and KWJZ.
Stations to watch:
Wolf has had two good books, can they win this Fall, or will KMPS weather the attack. They may be worth a buy in January. MOVIN has had one good trend in June. Will this mark the start of a good summer, fall and winter book, or is it an isolated trend. Will wait until next Spring to see if they are for real.
KTTH had a good book on AM and the KIRO/KOMO battle remains too close to call. KOMO wins with Mariners, KIRO wins 6a-7p. Both are out of the top ten 25-54.
Those are your real winners and losers. A big congratulations to KUBE, now number one 12+.
