WINQ (Wink Country 98.7) Changes??

WINQ FM (Wink Country 98.7) is promoting "great changes" coming Monday morning with a big announcement.

New morning show?

Just a promotion gimmick?

I've even heard expanding their coverage area with the addition of a simulcast partner (101.5 in Vermont a possibility??)

Thoughts?

It's probably a gimmick. Saga is pretty much at their ownership cap in the Brat/Keene market. I doubt Mark Healey is leaving anytime soon.

From what I've heard, Bob Cox is taking 101.5 in Marlboro, VT and discontinuing the "River" simulcast on there to put Wink Country on there to stunt any growth Kixx may have on 101.9. So you'd have Kixx 100.5/101.9 and Wink 98.7/101.5.

Makes sense...

If you're scanning from 98.7 driving into Vermont, guess what you're stopping at first? 101.5...

And from what the word is on the Keene radio streets, Kixx is drawing a decent listenership in a short two weeks...Smart move if this is what happens...

But...would they take the River off of 101.5??

You bet they would. Noho and Keene might as well be different worlds. It makes sense as a counter to the WKKN flip, plus Country is a bit more mainstream (read: advertiser friendly) than AAA. Lots of upside with very little risk.

Any word on this? I tuned in to 98.7 - it's still country.
