Winston-Salem - Greensboro

Is there no radio news for the Greensboro market? Every post seems to be about the stations in the Raleigh market. With the cut backs at Clear Channel and the lack of live on air people (almost said personalities) I guess there is not much to write about!

This market really is just a cesspool.....

A lot of markets are struggling but I know people across the country in different markets where there's a little bit of action.

Radio simply is 100% irrelevant in the Triad. A shame too....there were some literally monumental stations in this market at one point. Now it's just pure junk.

I think Triad radio is better than Raleigh. More variety.

I agree about 105.7. They actually sound true CHR, unlike 'KZL, and are giving them a run for their money. They should have signed on as CHR to begin with instead of Urban AC.

Thanks Greensboro, glad to see you guys are alive and well out there. I agree with the CHR battle and feel that KZL's days are numbered as are those of WTQR. GSO radio to me sounds very lame and dull! Have a great day.

If 104.1 were to flip, I wonder what to? Entercom has the Urban market cornered and CC already failed trying to compete with that. Classic Hits is a large void. KZL seems like they can't keep up with the times. It's an odd mix of Hot AC and CHR.

i was in the car yesterday and got behind a pickup truck with a country legends 98.3 bumper sticker on the left, and a WFMX bumper sticker on the right.

and i had lunch last week at a restaurant called "piedmont cafe," with pictures of piedmont airplanes on the walls.

i guess people in the triad are pretty loyal.

I am also someone who doesnt live there or works in radio but have super strong feelings about it!!!! Since I don't do anything about the situation and cannot, my feelings are amplified!!!! Everybody does it wrong and I would do it different, but I do nothing and that make me mad, too!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D There are alotof expert opinions up in this thread just like me!!!! I plan to do nothing and stay mad at everyone who do!!!!! D-word to anybody who thinks different because they are wrong for trying to do antything or for also doing nothing depending on a case by case basics, but I am right here. ::) ::) ::) ::) :p :p :p :p :p Also it was better back in the day and nobody now knows anything!!!!

For my tastes, at least the Triad has some good stations in 100.3, 105.7, 98.7, 92.3, and 106.5 (a Charlotte station, but does have decent coverage in the Triad due to xmitter location). Heck, 107.5 isn't awful, either.

Raleigh....uh....105.1 and maybe 100.7. The Triad rules in the variety department.

IMO, 100.3 is not a good station. I just cant get behind a "local" station who pipes in their talent.

I <3 Radio, but I H8 Clear Channel

I heard that!!!! ;D What is that format they have now?? At least they still have John Boy andBilly!!!!
Musically, it sounded  ::) perfect in the weight room of the gym at the local college. I was walking around and around in the basketball arena because it was drizzling. On a day when it's not raining I just walk past the gyym to the baseball field and back.

long post with too much detail:
we play the SEARCH game. this is how it works:
when listening to the radio in our car, we use SEARCH
and listen to the station until the commercial break.
then, mash (Southern for 'press') SEARCH.
using this, we now have our presets.
on Road Trips, it's the SCAN game.
it's an evil thing we do.

The Triad destroys Raleigh. If the Triad has a "dull" radio market, then Raleigh has the worst radio market of all time by comparison.

And to to top it all off Raleigh is a bigger city than Greensboro, as well as the whole triangle.

Sorry, but 100.7 the River is the dullest radio station I have ever heard in my life.

Its a shame, because it use to be a great station with the 2 previous formats it had.

For the Raleigh market: This would be a great time for the 90's version of G105 to come back and switch 93.9 to an alternative/active rock outlet (You have a decent demo for that format in the Triangle; why not take it in and love it!?!?) Bring back the original (old) "100.7 River" since Kix 102.9 already covers the oldies/classic rock genre pretty well.

For GSO: 'KZL is seriously going to have to pull out some stops to keep the ratings up against 105-7 Now. Anyone noticed Murphy in the Morning's Facebook page? - Seems like they are getting desperate for anyone to give them more than 5 minutes to hear. Even the listeners have commented about how "low" and "disturbing" some of their convos go. It's sad. Not too long ago it was the only AM show I could tolerate.

-That's my $.02
