Winter '08 12+ ratings for New Orleans

Diva might be a good start for the Benson network.

...and KKND and KYRK go further down....

KKND still doesn't have it's act together trying to speed up the songs... As I've said in a musical town, people know time and apparently those at Citadel haven't figured it out yet.

KYRK was the savior for awhile but it's playing the same stuff over and over again.... It's sad when the VT announces that they will have a 3 doors down song on 104 when it's becomes released, yet, all the stations on the coast, KXOR in THibodaux ,and even stations in North Louisiana had been rolling the song for weeks now!

And you wonder why post K we've been seeing more stations from BR creep on the chart for (as the only NOLA stations on in BR's chart are the top 3 in NOLA)

KYRK had a sharp dip in this book cause this is the time period their tower was down and they could barely be heard in New Orleans.

On KYRK, I forgot as it's the next parish over and they were coming in here on the Bayou still everyday.

But at the same time. listeners to KYRK that I know have been complaining about the repetition. If it's supposed to be a modern rock, or a active rocker.... It plays the same 200 songs and only adds songs when they are starting to go off the top 40 rock charts... that's what people have been complaining about that I know.

Thanks again FieldTech for straightening me on that one.

Regarding KYRK, KKND, Mix 92.3, etc., people will always tune into something that they "think" is new and sample it. When they find the station is doing ZERO marketing, all the shifts are voice tracked or they have terrible talent, they are programmed from outside of the market, etc., the samplers tune back to their regular stations.

KYRK is not "Active Rock". They are "Recurrent Rock". Aside from AM Drive, I don't think I've heard a jock on there.

KKND is not good Country with not good personalities.

Mix skews too young and male to challenge Magic and not young enough or urban enough to challenge B97. Aside from Hanzo, who is decidely out of place and shouldn't be on the air, the rest of the staff sounds like it just graduated from 4th grade.

KYRK is in trouble. yes, i work elsewhere but let's face facts. there are no big rock acts right now. the ones that are around are watered down and get played on b and mix and even some on Magic. an alternative or whatever you want to call it radio station is over. seriously, who can listen to Nirvana's "All Apologies" or STP's stupid radio hits any longer???????? Classic Rock is timeless and the fromat has proved this. Even boring Boston songs we have heard 1,000 times this week sound better than BLACK HOLE SUN. There was a small gap in the market and the last ratings period proved this. It was new and missed so it shot up. Now, people have gone back to their CD players after hearing Bush's I DON"T WANNA COME BACK DOWN FROM THIS CLOUD crap for the 5024th time this Spring.....

KKND.....Oh my lord. I can't even find them! What are they? a .9? an .8? Will someone sell me that radio station???????????

when KKND was Alt Rock, New rock, whatever, they were all over town non-stop. Events, bar, concerts, you name it. KYRK is Tampa jocks who sound like.....people who are not in New Orleans.

KYRK is so 1995!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah man, put on "Wrong Way" by Sublime! It's so cool. As Borat would say, NOT!!!!!!

I agree on KYRK.... Active and Modern rockers actually have respectable ratings in Hispanic areas look at San Antonio and Phoenix, as well as the northeast.

I like 90s grunge just like I do my Boston or Foreigner but YRk is taking from KKND's last playbook IMO and rolling the 90s like we were still there. Many newer rockers tune out as I know I'm grunge burned out personally.

But it's sad when KXOR running a mainstream rock format beats KYRK to the punch with new music...

And to add Marconi.. they weren't just all over town.. with the end, people actually saw and hung out with the jocks in the bars.. that's what brought the people in, till the music also sucked (going with a 90s and now thing)... but anyhow people that the listener can relate to.... People can only relate to Rod Ryan as he lived here and comes over from Houston once in a while... But they do have three other jocks currently (Lauren,Doubledown, and whip according to their site)

ON KKND, you got people miffed about the flip from Rock.. people who couldn't stand the country, people who couldn't stand the country/rock wanna be.... and right now, you have some half decent jocks on a station that has no clue on how to program country to locals... Only Chris Claire has an idea (from working afternoons and I beleive MD at KCIL down in Houma before this gig) of the local market... but the music is so cranked up in speed, I am a music fan and gets unbearable personally.

I hate 90s music. I hate 104.1 and DAMN sure hate 106.7 the Wolf! Where is 92.3?

RFLA,

And to add Marconi.. they weren't just all over town.. with the end, people actually saw and hung out with the jocks in the bars.. that's what brought the people in,

that's what i meant by "all over town" i worked there in the bars for about two years nwith that crew. we had the streets down to a science....

I have said it before and will say it again . . . like satellite, 104.1 has NO Local personality. While the satellite can work in some places, it doesn't have the appeal in N.O. (we are different). I will say this, if our stations keep up their lackluster programming, satellite MIGHT have to catch on.
As for KKND: N.O. HAS NEVER supported two country stations - so they keep wasting their time and money !

Wish WCPR's signal was about 25 miles stronger to the west, all your troubles would be over, and you guys would have Denver Crabb back, too! If you're in Slidell, 97.9 is there for you...
