Winter book is out!!!

The Box up, Majic down...but the stunning news for Radio One: Praise 92.1. Wow!!! Hallelujah! They've gotta be asking themselves: "Why didn't we do this first instead of La Mera Mera?"

Sunny dims noticeably.

KTRH way up. Lineup changes helping? KPRC way down. Zero sum?

The Buzz buzzes louder.

Estereo Latino and Recuerdo both drop. Hmmm. Mega down too. Hispanics underrepresented? Maybe not, Que Buena up nicely.

The Wave crashing against something other than the shore.

K-Hits a bit of a K-Miss.

And The Point...is more of a speck. Tick...tick...tick...whats next...tick...tick...tick...

It's the Good, the Bad, & the Ugly...

GOOD...
KBXX, KMJQ, & KODA... all tie for number one.
KTRH, benefiting from Rush's move makes a huge leap.
KTBZ, up a full-share... not sure why, but good for them.
KROI... we'll see if Gospel has staying power, but a nice start.
KQBU... Que Buena es Bueno! A great share for a rimshot.

BAD...
KOVE... I guess Que Buena gain is their loss.
KLOL... not a big tumble, but the format is trending downward.
KHMX... the numbers are basically flat, but they are down since Sam took over AM.
KPTY... I guess THE BOX's gain is their loss.
KHJZ... Too much AC/Urban AC, not enough Jazz... too many personality changes.

UGLY...
KHTC... Homgenized "Classic Rock" and a boring presentation... a bad mix.
KPRC... Rush's move hurt them, but the new shows aren't working.
KHPT... what's left to be said, the last person shut the light off before you leave.
KBME... two sports stations is one too many.
KFNC... three sports stations is way too many. Their best numbers were with UAC.

The rest of the market was pretty predictable. KILT's still the country leader. Just about everyone else's numbers were flat.

That makes all three of Radio One's holdings in good shape; TWO tied for #1....CC has 2 doing good...
but KQBU??? That has to be a fluke....but then they do have the best signal overall off CC Devers' tower.

K Hits was doing better as Oldies! DUH! Hello COX?????
Poor 790 will never be as good as it was as KULF and KKBQ AM (in the top 40 days)......and 97.5 trying to do sports? Well they at least dropped the same format on the AM (1450 in Beaumont) not to confuse BPT listeners....too bad it wont work on 97.5

Wow KK

Wow KKBQ's down and not even in the top 10. It was like 13. Is that normal? Still its Cox's top performer so I'm sure its not going anywhere soon.

KQBU has Piolin en la Mañana, the biggest Spanish langauge morning show in the country.

The power of Piolin.

KOVE... I guess Que Buena gain is their loss.

Que Buena does not share hardly any audience with KOVE; KOVE is about the same level it was in Summer, especially in 25-54. And wait till the PPM foir April are released!

David, not to change the subject, but did El Cucuy de la manana get his legal problems straightened out? I never did hear. I know he was one of the top Spanish Morning shows.

Also, KOVE was doing better with Spanish AC, now they are more along the lines of Spanish CHR.

Sort of. He got the main charges dropped. But what really dropped were his ratings, now 4th among Spanish-language in LA. His network show is now just in LA and SF, with all others dropping him last year due to terrible numbers. In Phoenix, for example, before being dropped, Piolin beat him about 8 to 1. In San Diego he could not get a 1 share.

Also, KOVE was doing better with Spanish AC, now they are more along the lines of Spanish CHR.

In sales demos, today's KOVE is vastly above the AC/Pop format it had. The Recuerdo format now on plays nothing newer than about 1999 and has a playlist of over 1,000 songs where 4 spins a week is a hot rotation. The music is predominantly 70s based, with some 60's and 80's and 90's. It's kind of Jack in Spanish, and the format was developed in LA in 2000.
