Re: Winter book out today...OT

Will the revamped 92.5 make its debut in the spring book or not until summer book?

Look for Lonestar to get a slight bump in spring and peak in the summer or fall.

Please someone do something about my beloved Bone! Please Please!!!!! Get those Right Wing Lunatics W&J OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are so damn boring. People are tired of there ranting!!!

Impressive to see 97.1 beating Univisions Recuerdo aggain wow very very impresive Omar keep up the great work!!!

Hooray for KRNB! So K-Soul, how are you feeling right about now?......

As I did on the Houston board, the GOOD, BAD, & UGLY...

GOOD:
KHKS... Kiss-FM #1. Congrats.
KLUV... I thought after Ron left, they'd be in trouble. I'm glad that's not the case.
KSCS... Glad to see they're back on top of the country ratings in the Metroplex.
KEGL... A nice book, we'll see if the format has staying power.
KRNB... In the words of our wonderful President, "Stay The Course!"

BAD:
KESS... I guess KEGL stole their thunder.
WBAP... not sure why they're down. I figured the Stars might help them in Winter.
KPLX... Oh, how the mighty Wolf has stumbled. Time to "Flex Your Plex again!"
KDGE... Alternative had a great book in Houston, and a bad one here. Oh well.
KDMX... I realize they increased a tenth of a share, but it's still lousy.

UGLY:
KVIL... An AC station with little competition should do better, especially that one!
KJKK... Time for "Jack" to head up the hill with Jill and stay there.
KSOC... KRNB's addition of Steve Harvey is bad news for them.
KMVK... Not exactly an "Oasis" of ratings success. Time to Move on out!
KTYS... If a Twister hits DFW, and no one turns on 96.7, will it make a sound?!

The rest of the numbers were predictable. KKDA is getting some healthy competition from KBFB. Reminds me of the K104/100.3 Jamz feuds, but they both actually played music then, and they sounded a lot better.

Not a great book for News/Talk.

Not until the summer book; this was Jan-Feb-March:

KZPS will debut in the spring book. Today's book was the final Winter 2007 book from December, January and February. Spring is March, April and May.

What came out today is Jan Feb Mar. Spring is April - May - June.

There is only ONE "Winter book" covering Jsan-Feb-Mar. There are two trends leading up to ot, which include pieces of Fall (Oct Nopv Dec) and Winter. So there can't be a "final" winter book, as there is only one... 4 books a year.

In any case, the diary method ends in Dallas in June of next year, after which PPM will be currency with 13 4-week reports a year.

Sorry, but Omar's pseudo-ballad local shows 3-7 and 7-Mid were beaten by KLNO... the local KEGL programming lost big time, starting by having a 23 yeasr old on a 35+ radio station playing the wrong music.

Actually, the 2007 spring survey period is 4/5 through 6/27...

Up nearly a share while KTYS and KPLX were flat.

KEGL... A nice book, we'll see if the format has staying power.
KRNB... In the words of our wonderful President, "Stay The Course!"

BAD:
KESS... I guess KEGL stole their thunder.
KEGL mostly competes against KLNO; I would think Liberman's relatively new KNOR 93.7 and KBOC 98.3 are taking away some of KESS's audience.

WBAP... not sure why they're down. I figured the Stars might help them in Winter.
I would think post-election politics is the problem. Both parties top leaders in Washington have approvals in the 20s and 30s...people getting tired of both parties' leadership I suppose other than the hardcore right and left. I don't think my Stars can help...too many Pacific time zone games + Mavs hot regular season competing against some of the games.

On the Mavs, they've had really impressive TV ratings this season...KESN seems to have only gotten a minimal bounce. KTCK's ratings were off a little during the Cowboys season, so maybe games on the radio in this market isn't the draw it is in some other places.

KPLX... Oh, how the mighty Wolf has stumbled. Time to "Flex Your Plex again!"
KDGE... Alternative had a great book in Houston, and a bad one here. Oh well.
I'd love to see the morning numbers...I have to believe Lex & Terry drag KDGE down....like W&J on KDBN.

KDMX... I realize they increased a tenth of a share, but it's still lousy.

UGLY:
KVIL... An AC station with little competition should do better, especially that one!
It has a competitor...KLTY. KLTY plays some AC music you can hear on KVIL (The Fray/How To Save A Life, for example) and targets the same white suburban mom KVIL does...and seems to do a better job at that.

KJKK... Time for "Jack" to head up the hill with Jill and stay there.
KSOC... KRNB's addition of Steve Harvey is bad news for them.
KMVK... Not exactly an "Oasis" of ratings success. Time to Move on out!

Except for the original Movin' in Seattle (KQMV 92.5 there), none of the Movin' clones seem to have done much except generate lower ratings. I still think KQMV only has been a success since the format is primarily targetting black and Hispanic females and Seattle has no station that targets those groups, leaving them to KQMV. I wonder if KQMV would be successful if it had a couple of urban ACs in the market. With KRNB, KSOC, KZZA, and KFZO, is there enough of an audience for KMVK...I don't think so.

HAHAHA...Little Davey: 35+ stations have been putting baby djs on for years. That's why stations like The Wolf have a 2.9 :D

KRNB has to be the shock of the book. I guess Steve Harvey has helped them. Now if Ken Dowe will stay out of the way and give the PD gig to Shay Moore. I have been listening to them and they do sound better. Just think if they were on a signal that could be heard!!!!!!!!!!

C'MON David Eduardo give them some credit how bad could it have been this books difference between recuerdo and preciosa was impresive the morning show didnt do the difference so what was it! give omar some credit and from what im hearing preciosa may be soon comming to Houston soon so recuerdo 106.5 may have some competicion soon!

Several interesting notes in the ARBs.... I find it very interesting that KZPS's 12+ numbers were up 0.5, putting them at #16 in the market, and they have gone to a format that ranked a full two shares lower (KHYI).

And of course, the KOAI move to KMVK still boggles the mind.

I wish I had access to the 25-34 numbers, and the 35-49.

Oh, and how about KTFW even making the book. Here is a signal that doesn't even get to most of Dallas county, yet it ranks #39. Not bad, if you ask me

Imagine if that signal was nice when the sun went down, they could really give a push at this thing. But SHAY, if you are out there... keep on movin' Sistah Souljah!!!

My point is that the only place KEGL looks good is 6 AM to 3 PM, which is networked from Salinas, and is nicely done by Alex Lucas. The local programming, based on crispy old ballads, after 3 PM and managed by Maria's friend Omar, does very poorly. Omar's only credit is making the station look bad 3 to midnight.
