Winter Phase One

No discussion yet about the latest trend? Guess not.
Here are the top ten 12+ rankings to get us started:

1(t) KESZ
1(t) KFYI
3. KHOT/KHOV
4. KTAR-FM
5. KZZP
6. KOOL
7. KYOT
8. KNIX
9. KSLX
10. KUPD

If the Old Gringo is within the sound of my post, we'd kind of
like to see the 25-54s too. :)

Nurse Jeff and I were very excited to see KT'R ranked at #3 in 12+, knowing we're closer to the free Humble Pie offered by the Luvable One. Then we realized this trend has November numbers in it (election coverage) and they'll roll out in another month. We also realized El Rushbo is now the hottest thing on radio and in politics which favors KFWhyEye for the months of February and March. YIKES!! Are we going to have to go through another year without KT'R taking the top spot? Are we ever going to taste those vine ripened Humbles that have only been in our dreams so far? Stay tuned.........

Congrats to KEZ and KFYI! Wanted to get that said before the "Over sampling of the wrong demos" posts hit. KFYI, DANG good for a station with no money, little staff, no PD, etc. Especially when the other stations in town have about pulled everything they can think of out of everywhere they can think of to be on top.

Congrats, humbles at last.

That humble pie gets served once KT'R beat KFWhyEye 12+*, not in the demos that are relevant! The Nurse and I are totally irrelevant and we're stickin' to our guns on this one.

*soon to become 6+ with PPM

On All Access, the ratings chart notes that this Phase One
is a combination of Nov/Dec/Jan (if wrong, I'm sure the
Old Gringo will correct me can explain it better ;)).

I see by the 25-54s that KOOL-FM is at #19 in the trend,
down from #16 in the fall book (whether or not there are
any ties higher up, KOOL would still be placed as 19).

Since this trend apparently reflects a good part of when the
KOOL Kristmas Music Spectacular (you can't spell "Kristmas"
without "PD Kris"...sorry ;D) was driving away listeners, one
can only hope this puts the brakes on any attempt to do it
again this year.

Did the Bangles and Rick Astley even do any holiday songs?*

*: Lame attempt to reference '80s music being added at KOOL, and
thus be part of the four-song rotation (along with the Chipmunks
and Paul McCartney) should CBS management think about going
wall-to-wall holiday music again in late '09, after the '08 disaster.

I should have figured that out since, if I recall correctly, the pie will (eventually?) be served at the equally irrelevant Bill Johnson's.

Hall and Oates did some holiday stuff in the eighties. Ugh.

If indeed the Humble Pie is served by December of this year, it would truly be a Wonderful Christmastime and reason enough to play that insipid Paul McCartney song once an hour on 94~Five! Nurse Jeff is hoping I'm wrong.
