WINTER RATINGS

Well, looks like the winter ratings have been released. Here's the breakdown and my opinions

1. Q93 - Back up to #1 due to more listeners moving back into the city.
2. FM98 - Usually #2 or #3 depending on how Q does.
3. WWL-AM - With the split ratings of the AM/FM signals this brought WWL down a bit. Combined they would be tied with FM98.
4. Magic - Still steady with their ratings, still the most listened to at work radio station.
5. Country 101.1 - No one has ever been able to pull ratings from this heratige powerhouse.
6. B97 - No real competition, so of course their ratings aren't going to change much.
7. The Rock of New Orleans - I always said once the non-compete with Wilks/Citadel was up Clear Channel would come back again with alternative. No real competition with this station either.
8. Bayou 95.7 - Has stuck with the classic rock format throuh everything, but doesn't look to be too much of a BIG jump.
9. Old School 102.9 - Used to be a ratings powerhouse, but with the failing of the target demographic since Katrina it has taken a dip in ratings.
10. WWL-FM - With the split ratings its still getting decent numbers considering from 11a-2p is the only time its not being used as a simulcast.
11. Praise 94.9 - On a small uprise from previous ratings. Still considered mainly a Northshore signal.
12. 94.3 WTIX - Considering there's no more competition and the fact that Mikey has made this his "personal jukebox" not doing too bad (of course could be 100% IMO)
13. WYLD-AM - Once a powerhouse in ratings has fallen considerably (Cap'n Kris McCoy had this station up a lot higher when he was PD)
14. WRNO The NEW Voice - What an embarassment! I wonder who's wonderful idea it was go after WWL? Come on Clear Channel 85 years of consistancy is hard to beat. Joe Costello must be flipping in his grave.
15. Diva 92.3 - Another station IMO should be blown up, while it was exciting and hot when it first came out, now its just another BORING format. I bet the Levet's are wishing they kept this signal.
16. The MIGHTY 690 - Anyone listening to this station outside of Kaare Johnson's show?
17. Martini 106.1 - I like the format, but the signal isn't strong enough, nor is the promotion of it in New Orleans.
18. KKND - Come on Citadel this is PATHETIC what a waste of a signal that was once a powerhouse signal. I think the latest advertising blitz is a last ditch effort to try and woo WNOE listeners away. (Not gonna happen)

I can see a couple of format flips coming, but I don't think Country 106.7 is one of them (they just put a BUNCH of $$ in advertising), someone needs to tell Clear Channel that their N/T station isn't The New Voice for anyone. Bob Christopher needs to GIVE UP!

Comments??

I agree. No suprise in the ratings, but even though S@#tadell dumpted a bunch of money in ad's I think this the last grasp before the death of the format.
94.9- are you not confusing it with 94.7 ? 94.9 is on the southshore. Transmitter is in Vacherie, COL is Norco, and has a CP to move to the community of St. Charles in Lafourche Parrish.
But as far as I know you are the first person to mention the 690. I listen to it but I can only take so much mayor bashing.
Yes Joe is also doing back flips not only because of WRNO-fm but also because of WRNO worldwide.
