Winter Storm coverage

So with this strom occurring right at the moment who do you tune into for weather news? I know if I want an immediate update R News will usually have it but I like WHEC's coverage and I like Kevin Williams. I also like Scott Hetsko at WROC and Marty Snyder at WHAM.

Well, that pretty much covers everyone.

What I thought was a shame Monday night at 11PM -- was to see two of Rochester's best reporters telling us a) that it's snowing, and plows are plowing the streets (McKinley on ch8 ), and b) it will cost you lots of money to winterize your car (Rachel on 13).

News flash, both.

Just once, I'd love to hear somebody like Saltrelli say "y'know, we were caught off guard. We've been sitting on our hands this fall. We are NOT ready to plow city streets. We were too busy playing cards in the garage."
Or hear a mechanic say "y'know, if you got a late-model car, you're probably fine. Your battery's fine, your anti-freeze is fine. If you got a cell phone, you're fine. A CD jewel case makes a great snow scraper. The people who wipe out on 590 or don't think about snow tires aren't watching us anyway; they're watching the Simpsons or the Daily show."

LOL!

Driving in wintery conditions can be killer. One time when I was in 9th grade and living in Albany I had my go to my annual eye exam and my mom picked me up from school. We came to a very icy red light intersection and her minivan slide slighty into the intersection before we finally were able to stop, as did the car beside us. But for what ever reason at soon as the opposing side turned green some fool who wasn't paying ANY attention hit us--and he came from the right on a one-way!

Then one time we were driving from Buffalo to Jamestown we witnessed a semi jackknifing due to the poor conditions.

During last winter's snow I was dropping a friend off at his house in Henrietta while we were getting out of my car a VW Bus came flying down street we started to have black ice on it, lost control, and hit a parked Geo Metro, causing the Geo Metro to crumple up.

Yeah, I can't believe how some treat snow in December like it's some incredibly mind-blowing story. Given the choice between that and a story about a guy who just beat a murder rap only to get arrested for another six weeks later, I'll go with the latter. I think we were only ones to lead with that this afternoon. I was done with snow.

Good for you guys! Yeah I was pretty shocked when I heard about the details about the store robbery on the radio this morning. Those jurors must not be sleeping well. In addition, the snow didn't keep that bank in Chili from being robbed today either...

You'd have loved the 5 PM news from the ABC affiliate in Phoenix: they had a story, presumably from WHAM/ABC, interviewing people from Williamson and Ontario who were caught off-guard by the snow. And here I thought everyone in Wayne County was prepared for snow by Labor Day. ;)
