Winter Weather Watch 2008!

Seeing that Dallas/Ft Worth is about to see its first dose of (light) winter weather, who do you think will once again freak out and go wall-to-wall with coverage??

Im guessing fox 4 will go first, as Dan Henry has nothing better to do...

Well, we'll know in less than an hour when Fox 4's news hits the air. If you see a reporter standing in front of a pile of sand, you'll know Fox 4 freaked out.

I think Mike and Jane and their producer have already freaked out. The open at 6 talked about wintry weather on its way, and Finfrock basically put the brakes on it by saying nothing was hitting the ground. (Well, he was wrong about that, at least - it did sleet at my house, albeit briefly.) Then they did a MOS with Grant Stinchfield talking to people about how they hated cold weather. (Ya think? Try being outside in 30+ degree weather with a stiff wind and no jacket and see how well YOU like it.) Ooh, and stay tuned all through the night as we rehash the same old tired facts about the weather, because absolutely NOTHING's going on (other than Russ Martin no longer being on Live 105.3).

That's when I turned off the TV.

Seeing we all here in town dodged a frozen precipitation bullet, I wonder when we'll see another fun round of WWW? My guess is sometime before new years..place your bets gentleman and ladies....

Another fun shot at slippery weather this evening in DFW...Will NBC5 and the anchoring team of Ron Burgandy/Veronica Corningstone repeat last weeks fiasco or will Pete Goodhair, Steve Maculey and the News 8 team go wall to wall????

Last Thursday, I was struggling to get road condition coverage from the Houston stations. KPRC and KTRK were off to network while KHOU preempted with local coverage and KRIV obviously was integrating this in the local news. KHOU and KRIV wasn't panicky but gave out the news with a stern, cautious tone--just being informative. The two other stations didn't even have a severe weather local ticker under the breakfast show; just saw the bug.

From what I read here, market #5/6 seems to cut normal programming (especially during primetime) for the scarecast every time a severe thunderstorm cell just rains on a subdivision.

I'll give ya that KTN ;) people up here overreact waaaay too much on these issues. Im guessing this area has too much free time on its hands..

Maybe it's the constant vigilance living in (the fringes of) Tornado Alley.

Yeah, we're consistantly having to watch guard over our evil neighbors to the north in OK, they're a crafty bunch...
