Wintertime MW DX from Perth

I'm getting a strong het bothering the ABC Radio National station on 612 tonight. On 610 there is the 200 kw Voice of the People from Ho Chih Minh City, but audio not clean enough to pick out language. 610 appears to be their actual frequency, based on their website, odd for this part of the world. I need to keep checking this one.

Thank you for keeping us informed. This is a part of the world that most of us never hear.

Responding to my own post... :) I am also getting Chinese talk on 1593, possibly China National Radio 1, 600kw but Asiawaves says directional E-W. The Thai VOA relay on 1575 is stronger than usual tonight, so conditions are right.

I also heard the Albany WA 400w station on 1611 tonight, my first distant X-band ID since I've been here (~250 miles). Playing Clapton and other classics, with ads for Albany businesses. I'm also hearing Italian on 1629, probably Albany also.

On 1503 is 2BS Bathurst NSW with a phone talk show, verified by webstream. About 2000 miles east of here, just over the Blue Mtns. from Sydney.

I wonder if maybe they're having issues keeping the DA operating correctly. If so they'd have plenty of company!

1593 is certainly CNR-1. I'm listening to them tonight with a clear but fading signal //9830, which is listed as CNR-1, with talk in Chinese and news at the bottom of the hour. I'm assuming they are not directional away from me, considering their xmtr is 4,400 miles from here.

1575 VOA is local-strength here tonight, but no sign of the het on 612 and no other Chinese noted.
