WINV 1560

Can anyone in Citrus county area tell me if WINV 1560 Beverly Hills/Inverness is back on the air? They were silent for a long time but supposedly went back on just before their silent STA expired. I drove through there a couple of months ago and 1560 was quiet as a mouse.

If they are back on, what format do they have? When last heard they were simulcasting a station over in Inglis playing Jones' Classic Rock. Thanks.

I thought this allocation was deleted a long time ago (?) Guess not.

This station was on when I was doing nights at WTRS (1991.) They were an extremely weak signal even back then. They barely made it to Ocala with 5,000 watts!

WINV still has an active and valid license although I don't know that the station is on the air on a regular basis... Orginally 1560 was licensed to Invernes but was relicensed to Beverly Hills so that Beverly Hills' previous ONLY station - WGUL-FM (now WJQB) - could be relicensed and moved to Spring Hill... It's 5kw signal is very weak mainly due to the fact it broadcast from a tower/antenna that is the wrong height for the frequency...

I do know that when WINV is on the air, it rebroadcast classic hits/classic rock from WXOF-FM 96.3 Yankeetown, also a part of the Gull Group which consists of WXCV-FM 95.3, WXOF-FM 96.3, WJQB-FM 106.3 and WINV-AM 1560...

Mark,
Not sure what you mean about their signal. That is why I started this post, I used to be able to hear them (weakly) in Pinellas county. I havent heard them for awhile and when I drove through Inverness a few months ago the freq was silent. Their tower is just slightly longer than a .25 wave at .30 and folded unipole antennas typically are a little longer from what I have read on the subject. Antenna efficiency is good per the FCC database. Thanks for the info though.
