WIOD without Phil Hendrie

Well, whatever it is, it will happen to every station that carried him, so Premiere must have a replacement show in store

I loved the commentary Phil did on this topic the night he announced his retirement:"I wonder if they'll let the black guy in he-- Iiiiiii'm just kidding."Classic Hendrie!

Why is it such an awful idea to put Coast to Coast on at 10pm? Sure it may not be exciting and innovative but numbers don't lie -people like the show. Hey, I'd prefer to hear Lionel, or how about Jim Defeede, or could they take Savage away from WKAT, but I wouldn't be surprised if they went back to what they had before Hendrie moved to a live start at 10pm. The over night version of Coast has given WIOD big numbers during the overnights - and good demos, too. For those in the biz, do a Maximizer run for over nights and I bet you will usually find WIOD (with Coast) up there with WHQT, WEDR, WAMR. One thing we can agree on, it'll be a sad day when Phil hangs up his headphones for good.

Yes. it's gonna suck without Phil. I agree with Lionel at night but C-T-C at 10pm does very well. George Noory mentions every book that in Miami it is the #1 show overnights. It's an entertaining show, but it's much better with Art Bell hosting it. I ran it for two years and it was able to keep me up.

Is it just me? I'd rather listen to Savage (who I can only take in small doses) than Lionel. The unintentional Joe Pesci impression kills it for me. Yes, I agree, it's a sad day when Phil leaves. I hope it works for him; we've all seen too many folks walk away from success to try something new. I saw Teachers once, and Phil's playing a stereotypical character. I wonder how the show is doing in the Nielsens.

Not well. Last Friday the deal was still up in the air over whether or not NBC would pick it up, and in TV, that's generally a "no".
