WION received in White Pigeon

I didn't think it would be possible, but today I was able to pick up WION 1430 down here in White Pigeon. Heard them at the 2 pm newscast and following. No reason to think they wouldn't be listenable most of the day. I used a Grundig G8 and box loop (standard copier paper box size). Had to go outside on the dock away from power lines, etc. but had competition from the neighbors' boom box playing kiddie pop music (grrr). Without the box loop... nothing.

This sounds like a really cool station. Wish I lived where I could pick them up more easily.

They went nondirectional with 4.7 kW days. They used to go north, with little to the south. Night pattern is the same as the old 5 kW dsytime pattern with 330 watts. They were one of the most fortunate stations that became Class B automatically when the FCC computed PSSAs. The towers are north of Ionia though.

They started streaming their audio on Friday. You can now listen at www.i1430.com.

Its a very unique, very good community oriented station.

I just saw your post scottg. Checking out the online stream now-- it sounds great! Thanks!
