WIOV

Alot of speculation has been going on as to what Cumulus is going to do. We are seeing some of it unfold. One thing that hasn't been discussed is WIOV. From what I understand, once the dust settles, the Harrisburg stations will be in the exsisting Cumulus complex. The York/Lancaster stations will be in Susquehanna Plaza...the exsisting WSBA/WINK 103/WSOX/WGLD location. What about WIOV? This station will now be apart of Cumulus York/Lancaster....but it's has been targeting Lancaster/Reading. They have been operating from 44 Bethany Road in Ephrata from day one. I'm not sure if they could move to Wrightsville even if they wanted to. They also have an AM...WIOV ESPN 1240...which is a Reading station, which could prevent them from such a move. WIOV is number 1 in Lancaster and number 2 in Reading. If they moved I-105 to the Wrightsville complex, could they start marketing in York and still go after Reading. The signal is decent in much of York County, But since the focus is on Lancaster and Reading...they can't seem to pull more that a 2 share at the most in York. Do they pull a WINK and team them up with 106.7? Or better yet...put the X on 106.7...and create a second Country signal on 105.7... THE EVEN BIGGER I-105. Let the speculation begin! UPDATE...I just checked Radio Locator...Wrightsville is within the 25 mile radius of WIOV's tower location.

I'm sure it wouldn't happen, but it would be ironic if things came full circle and Cumulus decided to simulcast WIOV on 96.1. This was done for a few months in the late 90's before WSOX. I remember the legal ID - WIOV-FM Ephrata, WTHM-FM Red Lion.

I doubt it will happen, but man i love that 105.1 - 105.7 simulcast idea. Gold star for you today. That's big-picture thinking. Of course this is Cumulus we're talking about here. They'll probably launch two new stations that compete directly with their own properties and end up putting smooth jazz on 106.7

Interesting idea. Already two WINKS in the market, why not two I 105s?

I don't see Smooth Jazz happening ANYWHERE! The new trend is Talk FM

Boy do I wish this would happen around here. I loved NewsTalk 104.7 when I lived in Pittsburgh. The critics panned it at the time but it's a solid top 5 station now and easily beats KDKA-AM.
