WIP is a disgrace!

WIP continues to bash Bobby Abreu even after his showing in the hr derby last night. This unjustified trend of accusing Abreu of not being a clutch player has been proven to be wrong time and time again. Most recently by Rob Neyer of ESPN. Regardless the WIP Crew continue their ignorant tirade against one of the greatest players in Phillies history. Also, there exist the sheep that follow them. I am disgusted that people call up and agree with the host and join in a regretful Bash Abreu session. This is so sad! The man has played 7 and a half very productive seasons in Philly and these blowhards dont appreciate him. It is time to admit the truth. The truth is folks, that WIP and all their followers are Racist. They are racist towards latinos. Another example is pitcher Vicente Padilla, who has had a tough time of it and due to a number of weak pitching performances his job is on the line. He pitched well his last start by the way. But WIP will never acknowledge this fact. They continue to bash Padilla and make ignorant statements about drinking problems and continually make references to Jose Cuervo Tequilla. WIP is a disgrace to the Broadcast Profession. This is my plea to all of you! Stop listening to WIP! We must ban together and stop this insanity!

What about the Phillies being an anti-Italian machine since day one, they have always been against Italian American players, since the days of the Italian hate-ing Carpenters, but I guess that does not count. Name more than five Italian Americans on the Phillies in the last 50 years, probably can only name 2. People like yourself always have to bring race into radio when you have no idea what you are talking about. I know first hand, I tried out years back and was discriminated against for being Italian. Must you always bring minority race into such situations.

Have you ever had to deal with Bobby? He is heartless and he is not a clutch hitter. Big deal he hit 41 homers at a home run derby with a guy lobbing them in there. He is a weak defensive player whines when he had to lead off and then strikes out when the team needs him the most. The guy makes a ton of money doesnt come up big when needed. The Phillies are the worst franchise ever in the history of professional baseball. One world title and they havent been back to the playoffs since 1993. Florida an expansion team has won two since then. Padilla is horrible he hasnt done a damn thing since he has been here.

You are one of the Eskin/Cataldi puppets. Abreu has come through many times in the clutch and I do not have to show you numbers. Padilla had two winning seasons before he became injured. He gets rattled easy and needs to step it up. But overall even if he hits the skids and gets traded for a bag of peanuts he produced in the past. I have a feeling he's starting to put it together again. But it'll never be good for you blowhards. Oh, and I hope the Eagles finish 6-10. Then you pathetic pieces of garbage can jump off the PSFS Building. What a waste of humanity you folks are!

Not to start a baseball discussion here, but in this case I totally agree with the WIP hosts. Abreu is a total stat guy, and his next clutch hit will be his first. I think 90% of Phillies' fans would agree with WIP on this.
______________

The only minority that I see the Phillies discriminating against is quality players. They tend not to have many, and when they get one, they trade him right away.

Thome is another player that fails in the clutch. And if WIP bashes him...is that racism? Please sir, even if your white, keep your social political suicidal tendencies to yourself. This is a radio board. Your a disgrace for bringing up this topic like that.

Its funny you bring up racist. The Phillies have always been a team accused of that, because everyseason they only have a few black players (however now that is becoming a trend thruout MLB).

Anyway. WIP is a joke of a sport station, but your post makes no sense. Padilla deserves to be bashed. He has had 1 good outing, and now we're suppose to believe he has turned it around? You sound like Ed Wade. "Oh the Phillies went 12-1. Thats proof they can play great" So if 1 good streak of 12-1 is proof the Phillies have what it takes, then what do the countless streaks of 4-14, 2-9, 3-16, ect prove? "Oh Padilla pitched great his last outing. Thats proof he still has what it takes". Again, if his 1 good outing is proof he has what it takes, then his 8 bad outings is proof he doesn't.

Hey, change the channel if you don't like it. To quote George Carlin, "There are TWO KNOBS on the radio. One of them turns it off, and the other one... changes the station. Imagine that! You can actually change the station!"

My view is this- Bobby Abreu is a lazy outfielder that costs Phillies games by thinking that the wall is kryptonite. If this was an American League team, I would have him as my DH. Yes, he has a great arm and hits for average, but that only gets you so far. It is like a girl relying on her looks.

One more thing- if he showed SO MUCH power in Detroit in front of millions, then why doesn't he try that here? Just wondering.

WHAT??????

I have something to say about all this...

1) ...WIP continues to bash Bobby Abreu even after his showing in the hr derby last night.
(I wonder if he was drug-tested after the derby...I'm still in shock.)

2) ...This unjustified trend of accusing Abreu of not being a clutch player has been proven to be wrong time and time again...most recently by Rob Neyer of ESPN.
(I will never trust ESPN--in my opinion, they're all about ego. And besides, when the Phillies are down in the 8th or 9th inning and Abreu comes up...he will NEVER come through for you! I don't care if he has 2 game-winning HRs in his career...they were both solo HRs--one an inside-the-park HR--and BOTH came when the game was tied! Try tying or winning a game when the Phils are behind--he simply chokes every time!)

3) ...Regardless the WIP Crew continue their ignorant tirade against one of the greatest players in Phillies history.
(Which means you just insulted Whitey, Robin, Carlton, and Schmidt in one sentence.)

4) ...I am disgusted that people call up and agree with the host and join in a regretful Bash Abreu session. This is so sad! The man has played 7 and a half very productive seasons in Philly and these blowhards dont appreciate him.
(I can't wait to call Howard Eskin about this one. C'mon man! Do your research and watch when Abreu comes up in my above-mentioned situation.)

5) ...The truth is folks, that WIP and all their followers are Racist. They are racist towards latinos.
(Radio is about opinions--this is why we live in America. If they were truly racist, they would be investigated. Take this up with their PD if you have a problem...it's obviously your choice not to listen.)

6) ...Another example is pitcher Vicente Padilla, who has had a tough time of it and due to a number of weak pitching performances his job is on the line.
(Well DUH! He stinks! What do you expect when you trade Curt Schilling? Besides, management botched that and the Scott Rolen trade up!)

7) ...WIP will never acknowledge this fact. They continue to bash Padilla and make ignorant statements about drinking problems and continually make references to Jose Cuervo Tequilla.
(Obviously this is a little bit of an edgy statement, and although I've never heard hosts say that, I believe it's but in jest. Gotten loosen up a little.)

8) ...WIP is a disgrace to the Broadcast Profession. This is my plea to all of you! Stop listening to WIP! We must ban together and stop this insanity!
(Hey man...believe what you want to believe, but I can't join you on this one. WIP is one of the most personable stations out there to listen to. These guys do a great job; especially Howard Eskin. Would you rather have that or watered-down ESPN programming?)
______________

All of you people suck! God Bless the Phillies! God Bless Bobby Abreu! And to hell with the Eagles, Flyers, Sixers ect. Go Eagles finish 6-10! It's gonna happen baby! All of you suck! Philly sucks! Just stick it!

ESPN Radio is some of the most entertaining radio on the dail. Its unfortunate their reception in the area is so poor. Many of my friends in the area complain that they cant get Mike and Mike and the Dan Patrick Show.

"What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

Here is the funny thing... you said you don't need to show the numbers for Abreu coming up in the clutch. Actually you do, you can't just go on this rambling mess and not give the cold hard facts. My guess is you either A. Don't know or B. Don't care to do the research and find out other wise.

Padilla had winning seasons, but if I'm correct he had double digit losses in both of them (BTW I checked it he did). He had alot of potential when he got here... but just has been a disappointment.

Abreu has been a problem, on occasion. story came out during the All Star break that Francona wanted him to bat lead off and he wouldnt. You get bashed if you're not a team player and make as much as he does and unless you're his brother you shouldn't take personal offense to it. If he leads the Phils to the Wild Card or the East pennant you may be hearing something different.

I have never seen anyone so prepared for a meaningless home derby in my life, he even brought his own bp pitcher with him, It reinforces the notion that this guy is a stat guy, does anyone recall last year when he notched his average over three hundred on the last game of the year and kindly removed himself from the game?

Just about everyone brings their own BP pitcher.

Lifetime in the 8th and 9th inning when the game is within 2 runs either way Bobby has....
.233 batting average....2 Homeruns....and 5 RBI's. Thats lifetime. Those aren't superstar numbers.

Why should a team rely on 1 player to bail them out all the time? Nobody deserves to be put in that position. If the team would hit when they are supposed to then this problem would not exist. By the way Bobby's numbers in te 6th inning are way over .300.
