WIP PD From 70's-80's

Okay... I've got a mental block. I'm trying to remember the name of the Program Director at WIP - I'm pretty sure he succeeded Dean Tyler - back when WIP was still full service music/news in the late 1970's and early 80's. I think he later was programming (and possibly part owner of) a station group in Maine/Northern New England several years after that. The name will probably come to me in the middle of the night. He came up in a conversation I was having today and it's driving me crazy. Any input?

Steve, are you thinking of Bruce Holberg, who was PD from 1976-79 or so (before moving to WMMR and later Power 99) or Al Herskovitz (1979-83). Dean Tyler came to WIP from WTMR in 1969 and moved to WNEW-AM New York in 1976.

Al Herskovitz is it! Give that man a cigar or a very good cocktail! Thanks a million!

The poster is right about Al Herskovitz replacing Bruce Holberg as Program Director of WIP...but I think the answer to the original question was Cary Pahagian. After Dean Tyler, Bruce Holberg came in from WCBM in Baltimore, then , was promoted to be GM of WMMR. Herskovitz kept WIP sounding like itself, and Pahagian took WIP into the " Infotainment" experiment. Pahagian went on to WBZ as PD, and today runs a cluster of stations out of Portland ME.

Your information is correct... but I was thinking about Al Herskovitz. Interestingly, check this link out for where Al is now:
