I can't believe they're going to preempt Rush for the phony bald-headed jacka**. I guess I'll be listening online to WABC to Rush. Preimere and Clear Channel should start to look around Philly for another station to carry Rush & Sean. 1210 also carries too many day Phillies games that should be carried on 610.
This bring up this question: Do you think that WIP should become the flagship station for the Phillies in 2010?

No, YOU bring up the question, Julius. As a listener, I like it the way it is, and don't see a need for nor a compelling benefit to a change like that.

I would think as WIP is an all sports station and baseball is a sport it would be a no brainer. If the Phillies aren't on WIP (sports radio) what does WIP run? The term "Raison d'être" comes to mind. :)

Alright, so the Phillies move to WIP. Since a very large part of the Phillies' schedule involves games in the evening, and since WIP already carries the Eagles, Sixers, and Flyers, where do you put the Phillies when there's a schedule conflict? It would happen rather frequently, especially since Major League Baseball is pushing the World Series into November now.

Plus, not to mention, sports teams like being able to say they're on a 50,000-watt radio station (regardless of how bad the 50kw signal of 1210 is).

My point is to put weekday day games on WIP instead of preempting Rush & Sean to play games on 1210. Keep the night and weekend games on 1210. When all 3 teams are playing, they usually stick either the Flyers or Sixers on WYSP. If they're going to continue to preempt their talk programming for sports, why don't they put Rush & Sean on WIP on those days. At least I can hear Sean on my Sirius-XM radio but, not having an I-pod, I really can't listen to Rush on the big talkers website when I'm not near a computer.

So it's only bad to bump Rush and Sean? What about people who like Dom from 6-10? No problem bumping him? And what about the people who want to talk sports with Gargano/Macnow and Eskin? It's ok to bump them from talking about the Eagles signing some convict or another if they have no interest in the Phils?

Splitting up the games regularly isn't a particularly good business model (it has its plusses and minuses, but more to the later). Rush and Sean will still be there to predict the end of the world under Obama 24 hours later.

Dom does an Internet-only show on the WPHT stream on nights when they carry the Phillies, and the station even promotes the web-only shows throughout the day.

The Phillies should be on WIP. Send the Flyers or Sixers out elsewhere when there's a conflict during baseball's post-season.

The reason the Phillies are not on WIP is that Philadelphia, as a city, always and everywhere, 12 months a year, needs a place to talk about the Eagles.

That and the signal. If CBS does what people are talking about and moves WIP to 94.1, I would bet the Phillies games would move there at that time.

In which case, CBS is smart. Get the Eagles fans on one station, the Phillies fans on another station (and we've seen time and again, the Phillies ratings boost 1210, not hurt it). Basic math.

Sports Contracts

It looks like CBS Radio has control of all Philly sports contracts.

I wonder if Clear Channel would bid for any one.
