I think I heard this station years ago when it was WIQT, possibly even when it was on 1000. It's now WWLZ 820. I heard a station in the car airing The Savage Nation after 5:00 PM this evening. I knew it couldn't be WVSG, WCPT, or CHAM. Finally, I heard a mention of Ithaca and knew it had to be WIQT Horseheads, NY or whatever call letters it was know. Looked it up on my phone as WIQT Horseheads, and got the new information on Wikipedia, which confirmed the programming heard. Seems like it came in a few times during Critical Hours on 1000 when conditions were strange and WCFL wasn't coming in. I remember those times when WCFL didn't have hardly any skywave. WCFL had just enough skywave to interfere with the 50 uV/m groundwave with rapid fading. WWV propagation prediction was down around 4. Anyone remember what the letters were besides N? U perhaps? Did anyone ever hear an 8? Anyway, sometimes the CH propagation was unusual, but you would get stations like WIQT before signoff. Then you would get what we now recognize as Auroral conditions. I heard a multiple Auroral wipeouts on AM BC a few months ago with somewhat normal conditions in between. Got out of the car when I got to my destination, looked up, and there it was!
