Treasure Coast WIRA/Fort Pierce and Translator Silent

WIRA-1400/Fort Pierce and its FM translator, W285FN/Port St. Lucie have gone silent. They were broadcasting a Spanish hits format.

Filed to go silent in mid-February...
It was discovered that WIRA is causing interference to an AM station on a nearby tower. The licensee is taking the station silent until the problem can be resolved. As a result, W285FN is also ceasing operation.

Was a good little station when I worked there in the early 80's. Live morning show, local news, lots of community involvement. It was profitable. Someone might be able to do it again, especially now that it has a translator. Sad to see what has happened to it.
