WIRD 920 Lake Placid, NY

It been a while since I've been in the Adirondacks. Took a few days off and returned this past weekend. Noticeably absent was 920/WIRD in Lake Placid, NY. Either they were on unbelievably on low power or the station is currently silent. I was in Wilmington, NY, located about 10 miles from Lake Placid. Usually, 'IRD would still put in a fairly good in the area, in spite of the next-to-nil ground conductivity (0.5). 5000 watts ought to do quite well in WIlmington. Does anyone know if WIRD is currently silent? I didn't any notifications on the FCC webpage. (Of course, sister station WLPW/105.5 sounded great in Stereo). Anybody know? Thanks!

What time of day were you listening? If it's pre-sunrise or after local sunset they run only 87 watts nondirectional. Of course they could be having trouble with the transmitter and unable to get their full daytime 5 kW into the antenna....

I was listening to 920 during the daylight hours. I'm wondering if they were still on night power during the day and for some reason did not go to full power. Generally, WIRD would put a good signal into Wilmington. I did find out later that WIRD simulcasts with WNBZ in Saranac Lake. Because the signal was so weak, I could not distinguish the call letters I was hearing on 920. Believe it or not, I actually got WIRD on overnight skywave about 15 years ago in Stoughton, MA during the "Radio Lake Placid" days. It came in quite well. (I wonder if they were "accidentally" on day power one night. It happens.).

I haven't heard WIRD where I am near Watertown, NY in a while. Can't tell you exactly when they left as I don't DX AM a whole lot but usually during the winter I can get great AM reception during the daytime and I haven't heard them. I'm pretty sure WNBZ is still on the air because I can hear them behind my local WATN.

I checked on the car radio in a quiet spot today and then only thing I could get on 920 was a weak signal from WYBY out of Cortland, NY.
