Wireless Cable

I haven't heard anything about wireless cable since the 90s when a bunch of crooks got involved in trying to sell people the bandwidth the FCC set up for the thing.

With all the new cell phones carrying some programs from networks, I was wondering why the big Cell Phone companies don't look back into Wireless cable. They already have the towers, they just need the bandwidth to provide channels on. With the new digital wide-screen 480p (not true HD) they should be able to get 6 channels over what used to be 1 channel. Can't see why the wireless Companies don't want this. Even if it means fewer channels than current cable I bet they could sell to people not interested in the little channels- maybe just the 24 biggest channels (ESPN, History, CNN, Fox News, MTV, Nick, the list isn't that long). Leave some space for PPV and you are done. Maybe pipe in some Network in rural places and let the bigger city people take it off the air with an antenna.

One company is doing just that. Right now, they're only in 4 markets.

Wish I could get it. My most watched cable networks, Discovery, HGTV, Food, TLC are all there. The idea for it is great but the coverage areas are too small. Hopefully it will catch on in some larger towns. With only 12 (really 11) cable channels they are wasting space with Lifetime Movie Network, ESPN2 and Disney Toons but they probably had to make "deals".

My lineup:
MSNBC (should be cheaper than Fox News)
ESPN
Disney or Nick
HGTV
Discovery
TLC
History
VH1
Food
Travel
E!
