Wireless FM Transmitter

What's that in feet??

on my DX-380 I get like close to 1,000 feet

Some fun facts for you! 1 metre = 3.28 feet, 500 metres = 1640 feet, 1800 metres = 5904 feet, so we're talking well over a mile, throwing out an audible signal.

Terrain is rural and gently undulating, weather was sunny with haze, time: about 9:30AM. Transmitter is broadcasting from 2nd floor, so roughly 15 feet above ground, building construction is wood and aluminum clad siding. Vehicle used, 2003 Ford Taurus, with factory AM/FM/CD unit.

Also, while using the transmitter in the car, through urban areas (in Ottawa, or along the 401 corridor, for example), I haven't had any problems with reflected signals trying to break into the selected frequency, as some units have.

Again, for $12 - even cheaper for guys in the States - I'm a happy camper. ;D

OK, I use a wireless FM transmitter, to broadcast whatever I'm streaming on my computer, to our household radios and...beyond.

Here's what I use ~> http://cgi.ebay.ca/FM-TRANSMITTER-2...er_MP3_Player_Accessories&hash=item5add14ba91

Looks like a Chinese version of the Belkin Tunecast 2, but the Belkin units are FCC approved so they are pretty wimpy in power. A couple of sites to check out are meritline.com and dealextreme.com. They are both Chinese wholesalers who sell similar fm transmitters. Many of these will also do 87.7 and 87.9 which is nice for in the car units. 87.9 is a great frequency since there is usually nothing else on it, Im too close to Canada so I get TV 6 interference on 87.7 otherwise that would be good too.

Is FM Radios in Car & Trucks better at picking up stuff far away...

Like I said before at my bros house

I got like 2,000 ft in my bros truck on 87.7

But not on my DX-380 or my Walkman..I get ike at most 400 ft til it fades
