WIS/WLTX weather battle

On a TV note, has anybody been following the weather drama between WIS and WLTX recently?

WIS meteorologist Brooks Garner made headlines in The State newspaper for hyping a possible snow storm for Tuesday, with a pattern which reminded him of a 1973 blizzard in South Carolina.

WLTX's Jim Gandy was quoted in the paper saying, “My problem with that is he wasn’t even alive then.”

Tonight on WIS, Brooks predicted a 30-40% chance of snow, with Gandy predicting rain only. Who will win? We'll find out Tuesday.

Even though weather forecasting is definitley not an exact science, Jim Gandy has been right over the years more times than he has been wrong and personally I don't think much of Brooks Garner, he reminds me of a clown.

Looks like Gandy will win this one. It will be a cold rain in Cola, no snow.

I tend to agree with Jim here, that it will probably be a cold rain, with maybe a couple snowflakes mixed in. It's like that in Charleston, but we have three major meteorologists (Crawford at 4, Walsh at 5, and Fowler at 2), all predicting against each other, and Walsh always picks the temperature lower during a cold snap, and higher during a heat wave, to get the viewers.

Crawford is the most conservative, but he is usually the most accurate, and Fowler is very accurate, also. It least is better than when we had Brian Goode on Channel 4 (at the Weather Channel now), when every time the models ten days out predicted snow, he said it, and he would do 15 and 21 day outlooks for the weather geeks (like me!) ;D

With the strange warmer than normal weather we have had the last 6 or 7 years the weather has been much harder to predict than it use to be. Snow as never been easy to predict in this area to start with and now with the crazy weather we have had I wouldn't want to try.

I agree Lhsh, Garner reminds me of an excited puppy that pees all over the carpet. The first time it is kinda funny, after that it just becomes frustrating, and you realize the puppy needs to be trained.

Have you guys seen the WIS promo that touts "Only WIS gave you hour by hour coverage of last week's winter storms" give me a break. Who in their right minds would brag about the reactionary coverage? Somebody shoul lose their job. Maybe Brooks should be made to wear a dunce cap on air. I don't like anybody except for Joe Pinner over in the weather centre at WIS. WIS should clean house. Does Ben Tanner still talk ad nauseum about his kids and "Granny" I feel that's a security risk. There are alot of sickos out there.

Who's in charge at the WIS? Unless I'm wrong nobody has stepped up and claimed the Chief Meteorologist mantle since Aucoin left. Maybe Aucoin is the chief emeritus?
