Al Franken brings "The Truth (with Jokes)" to Madison this week, starting with a discussion of his new book, question-and-answer session and book-signing at 7 p.m. Monday at Barnes & Noble West Bookstore, 7433 Mineral Point Road. The bookstore staff expects a crowd for the free evening with the author, aka host of an Air America Radio show, Grammy-winning comedian (you're good enough, smart enough and people like you, Stuart Smalley) and Emmy-Award-winning television writer and producer. To get a number for the book-signing line, call 827-0809. To get a seat for the discussion, arrive early.
On Tuesday, Madison radio station the MIC 92.1 will present "The Al Franken Show" from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. live at the Barrymore Theater, 2090 Atwood Ave. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m. for those who have advance tickets, which were distributed via "Whistle Stop" tours and online. At 10:30 a.m., remaining seats, $5, open for the general public. Information is available through www.themic921.com.
